ACTIVITY

(1) At 8 am, discussing the rough ideas what will be doing this week based on schedule planned by the company. Still on Ucancam V11 software programming. 

  • Introducing 2D and 3D CAD
  • Video tutorial on CAD function
  • Add on n explanation by supervisor
  • Explore drawing function in 2D

(2) At 9 am, cover back the lesson i have left in week 2. Fisa, my workmate explain the detail of Ucancam which have been explained by the company. The explaination including

  • Cutting tool type be it endmill, conical, bellnose or bullmill. For area clearance and profile machining, the suitable cutting too is endmill and conical. The result of the product is so clean and satifying. 
  • Toolpath of the spindle be it on outside or inside. For what i need to learn, the most product will be using outside and inside of the toolpath. Toolpath on the object is not suitable as it will cause deflect or damage to the product. 
  • Side allowance as a reserved space. In profile machining, side allowance for rough surface is mostly 1 and for finishing is 0. Side allowance will affect on object if not taken seriously while in calculation. The first process is to removed heavy product in rough way. The second process usually for finishing. Size of cuttercan be same for both process. 
  • Total depth. To consider for layering, the first depth is priority to remove the rough surface. The reason is avoid deformation and to avoid leaching for vacuum-router machine. 
  • Overlap ratio. The most suitable range for overlap ratio is around 25%-45%. If less tahn the range, the island will be produce. Result of the product will not so satisfying.
  • Spindle direction. Clockwise direction is not the best option especially if using endmill cutting tool. The best option is counterclockwise due to the less chip will be produce during the process. 

(3) Since the process of learning Ucancam until week 4, i keep watching the demo from the given DVD and practice using the software. I tried to draw a wall mirror in nanoCAD before transfer to Ucancam for setting either engraving or area clearance. Brainstorming the project until late evening.

ACTIVITY

(1) At 8 am

I still did a research for the product to be groove. 

(2) At 10 am

I started with draw some sketches on the plain paper and thinking what is the best way to involve three pathways which are profile machining, area clearance and 3D corner engraving for the product. 

(3) At 1 pm

I did continue or transferimg drawing or information from nanocad to the ucancam software.

  • Start sketch for the project.

  • The above picture was my first idea for the project, but at the end i did some adjustment and add own idea towards it.

ACTIVITY

(1) At 8.00 am. Did a little touch up on previous task regarding the toolpath output and the type of toolpath. On the previous day, we are doing a grooving for a plastic type material. We need to make two groove for a water to flow.

(2) At 8.30 am.

We start machining the material using CNC machine. The machine that used in this CNC machining is CNC plasma. Vacuum is used to suck the material to avoid from material to move during machining. 

As i was on leave last week, i studied and cover back what i have left before. I observed first what fisa did and recall what i have learnt on first day of internship.

After that, i started doing on my own with the help of Iqbal and fisa. The result of product was as expected and quite satisfying. This was my first fully handling machine during industrial training. There are still a lot to study and explore regarding the code from Ucancam and machine. I promised myself i should learn and take this lesson seriously as this field was my desired.

(3) At 1.00 pm

As my project/task is not done yet, i continue edit and do some adjustment for the object to be grooving next week.

For this whole day, we just doing the project and make sure the project is done on perfect time.

ACTIVITY

(1) At 8 am

Started my day with making last adjustment on the project. 

(2) At 10 am

Started with find suitable material to cut through when using CNC machine and the suitable material is 9mm mdf board. Then, i continue edit the project according to the suitable material. The toolpath output is then decided. 

After that, we are doing our first practice physically without the help of Iqbal. Only certain part we need the help of Iqbal which suddenly the machine not operate as what we desire. The result of my project was totally broken. I think the reason for the broken project was because the starting point for the toolpath is wrong. So, the line or shape of the object to be grooving is disturbance. 

(3) Around 12.30 pm 

We did an adjustment again for the project.
