I had been assigned task to continue sending email to Mr. Yazid and Mr. Izzuddin regarding quotation of borehole testing under Kim Seng Quarry.
Since Mr. Yazid stated the attachments / information required for enquiry of quotation, I confirmed with him on the details like BH layout, bills of quantities, termination criteria etc.
To get the quotation for quarry, I contacted Mr. Yazid and reminded him to give me reply as soon as possible.
I reported the progress of quotation to Mr. Lam after contacting Mr. Yazid from GoGeo Engineering under UEM Edgenta.
The deadline for the quotation is by this Wednesday.
I also spent some time to practice my AutoCAD and SolidWorks drawing.

Tuesday
Today, I continued to follow up with Mr. Yazid on quotation for Kim Seng Quarry.
He promised that he will send the quotation on Wednesday (8 August 2018).
To complete my internship report, I asked admin executive for company organizational chart and department position etc.
These information was provided by Human Resource Department.
I spent the remaining time to complete the company information and other details in internship report.

Early in the morning, around 8.58 am, I received the quotation from Mr. Yazid (PIC of borehole testing in GoGeo Engineering).
I immediately sent the quotation to Mr. Lam and waited for further instruction.
Mr. Yazid stated that there are optional resistivity survey where we could map out the rock profile by providing a few cross-section across the site.
I was informed that adding more extensive drills will cause the price quoted to be more costly.
I discussed with Mr. Lam on the works requirement and commercial parts.

For water reticulation system, there are many other valves in which some of them are rarely being used.
For instance, ball valve, plug valve, globe valve, pinch valve, disc check valve etc.
Ball valve is a quarter turn operated valve, and it is closed by rotating the globe by 90 degrees such that the hole now becomes perpendicular to the flow and hence stops the flow.
Similar to ball valves, plug valves are also quarter turn type of valves. When the plug is turned by 90 degrees, this slit becomes perpendicular to flow and the valve gets closed.
Globe valve is a linear motion type of valves and is typically used in both on-off and throttling applications. In globe valves, the flow of the fluid through valve follows an S-path.
Pinch valves consist of a plastic tube/sleeve which is made up of reinforced elastomers. The sealing/ closing action is achieved by throttling or pinching this sleeve/tube. Pinch valves are best suited for handling slurries and fluids having suspended solids.
Disc check valves, also called as non-return valves allow the flow to pass through them in only one direction and stop the flow in reverse direction. Because of this unique directional property, disc check valves are essentially used for some critical applications in the steam systems.

Following the instruction of Mr. Lam who is the PIC of Kim Seng Quarry, I contacted another company called Geolab (M) Sdn Bhd to ask for quotation.
The person I contacted is Mr. Jason but he told me that usually a formal quotation will not be provided.
Lam insisted we need a formal quotation due to company’s management requirement.
In the afternoon, some interns and I went to P4 and P5 site to understand more on the construction over there.
After confirming with Mr. Jason again, I found out that this company does not provide testing for the remaining stone storage in Kim Seng Quarry, therefore it should not be considered.

Same as usual, there was a weekly meeting from 9 am to 11 am.
The meeting started with the "Regulation on Employee Behaviour Management" which emphasizes on prohibited conducts, investigation & punishment and reporting channel.
Relating it to our department, for the project part, false report of project, unauthorized design change, receiving gift from property owner/contractor etc can result in punishment to invovled personnel.
PIC for each module also report their progresses such as Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Road & Bridge and Municipal.
Department Director, Dr. Chen Ai Lu also gave his opinion and instruction for the work to be done.
I assisted my colleague, Mr. Tian to translate the Ranhill SAJ letters from Bahasa Malaysia to Chinese.
Those letters are about the modification required for pipes and manholes according to SAJ standards after on-site checking and inspection.
