Being brief by Syeed Muhammad Imran about the induction of health, safety and environmental (HSE)
PPE, Hazard, Accident happened before (Snap load, Welding spars hose pipe, Check the gas or pressure inside confined space before entering)
Being introduced by Susan Tan Sook Sean, there are 3 ongoing project which are 108m Tanker,
24m Levelling barge
and 71m gantry crane barge
She also brings me walk around and remind me some safety issue.
For big ship is constructed by block and inverted, being reversed during erection whereas small ship is not constructed inversely.
14 August
(Tuesday)
The shipowner (HSL) come and check with the process with shipbuilder (MME) and classification society (BV).
The gouging from frame 30-40 of 71m Gantry Carne Barge is check by Susan and command additional grind is needed before welding, the welding will check with NDT-RT (radiographic test).
70% welding connection of the gantry crane barge will be checked by NDT (non-destructive test) 20% dye penetration. 50% ultrasonic
They also discuss with the gantry crane connection.
15 August
(Wednesday)
I was instructed by Susan to measure the dimension of the I beam of the gantry crane.
There are some tools usually surveyor will bring:
torchlight
hammer
welding gauge
measuring tape
Gas detector
16 August
(Thursday)
Follow Askar and Susan check the gantry crane welding connection.
Discuss with them about the problem. =>welding throat excess the maximum welding limit which is the 0.7*the thinnest plate thickness.
Self-learning and check the 24m levelling barge progress with the drawing by measuring the dimension of the stiffener and the throat thickness by welding gauge.
Follow Susan discuss with the MME colleagues about the NDT:
Mostly test at the main structure (bracket not included)
The surface which is very hard to clean not suitable for dye penetration.
17 August
(Friday)
The chairman of HSL is came and visited to MME yard.
The figure above shown they are explaining the progress of the construction which is still on time.
