SECI 2143 SEMESTER 2 21/22 RSS

Project Reflection

I am about to enter the second semester of my first year, and one of the courses I am taking is SECI 2143, which stands for Probability Statistics and Data Analysis. Throughout the course of this unit, I've picked up a wide range of new skills, such as how to do data analysis, how to compute core trends, and how to formulate a hypothesis statement based on a dataset. This information is really important for me to acquire so that I can better prepare myself for the work that I will be doing in the future. In addition, I have been assisted by a professor named Dr. Nor Azizah Ali, who is very dedicated to teaching this topic to each and every one of her pupils.

We were given a final project assignment for this topic, which required us to conduct a data analysis study on a dataset that we selected ourselves and believed would be appropriate for our investigation. Additionally, our class was split up into multiple groups, with each group consisting of a maximum of four students. Umar Haziq, Harith Hakim, and Yasmeen Natasha, three of my other pals, have all decided to be a part of the same group as myself. I was tasked with carrying out a data analysis study that was focused on the correlation between datasets. Our data set contains information that is pertinent to the social media network known as Instagram. This dataset includes a number of factors, some of which include the influencer ranking, the name of the influencer, followers, and so on.

As a consequence of this, the members of my team have agreed that I should use the influencer ranking and the follower ranking variables for my correlation test. When calculating the test value and developing the graph correlation project, I make use of software programmes like Excel and R Programming. I am able to perform a comprehensive computation in a manner that is both straightforward and time-saving by utilising R programming. With the assistance of my R programming knowledge, which I had acquired at the beginning of the semester, I discovered that I was able to come to a complete conclusion for my data experiments that were related to the correlation of such data. This was made possible by the fact that I was able to analyse the results of these experiments.

In addition, I have completed a few more jobs, such as coming up with the ultimate conclusion for our project and assisting other members of the team in completing the task within the allocated amount of time. I have also participated in the video editing process that was done for my group. I am able to report that every single member of my group has fully committed themselves to finishing the project and has worked together well to do so.

As a result of my self-reflection, I have gained a significant amount of knowledge on the processes of hypothesising and doing data analysis. I also have a better understanding of the usage of methods and knowledge that will be utilised later while working, thanks to the assistance of the other members of the team that I am working with. As a result, by working on project 2 with the other members of the group, I will be able to acquire an initial overview of how to use previously gained knowledge.

Study Journey

I attended few industrial talks in this subject.

My first industrial talk was by  Mr. Nazri Edham, Head of Product Design at TM Commercial. This talk was about the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He began by highlighting the ground-breaking 5G internet, which will benefit businesses. 5G will boost mobile broadband and give ultra-reliable, low-latency connections. He also mentioned the transition from 1G internet to 5G technology, which is the most modern technology. This new technology will help the city's transportation, accessibility, social services, and sustainability. Finally, a faster internet connection will help people to stay connected no matter where they are, making life easier for them.

The third talks was given by Dr. Qusay Al- Maatouk. He covered a wide range of issues, with cloud computing being the most essential. Cloud computing is a pay-as-you-go subscription model for on-demand IT infrastructure on the cloud, rather than maintaining and owning a difficult-to-manage physical data centre. People can now store their data in the cloud with the help of cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides a number of services, including cloud storage, security, and cost control. AWS is also recognised as one of the best cloud providers in the world, owing to its affordable price for customers. Customers can select from a number of services, and AWS will work with you to lower expenses so you don't have to worry about money or problems if we have our own data centre.

Dr. Ruzimi Mohamed gave the fourth talk. The meaning of the Industrial Revolution, as well as the benefits of AR, will be clarified in this session. He also addressed potential work opportunities in AR for recent graduates, as well as the qualifications required for employment. Finally, this conversation centred on the implications of AR advancements, which has caught the interest of social media users all over the world. He thinks that by 2022, the number of individuals adopting augmented reality will have increased. According to Instagram and Snapchat, there will be 3.5 billion AR users in 2022. Meanwhile, leading brands will earn at least $15 billion from the progress of AR. In order to obtain work, graduates must have the following ten talents. Among the skills are complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, cooperation, emotional intelligence, judgement and decision making, service orientation, negotiation, and cognitive flexibility.

The fifth talk was given by Mr Gog Bih Der. His talk was titled Emerging Technology in Network Infrastructure. Mr. Goh Bih der, Commscope's System Engineer, claims that "Traditional network infrastructure is no longer relevant and unable to fulfil the demand for high technical connectivity now that we want easy-to-use and reliable internet connections when conducting business or other activities. The connection of this technology would disrupt and impede the cyber world's operation of collecting and storing large amounts of data ". As a result, he feels that technology that supports internet connectivity is vital, and that it must be recognised and acknowledged if we are to grow and capitalise on technology's use in the future.

Mr. Nicholas Yong gave the sixth presentation. His title was 5G, WiFi 6, and Emerging Network Technologies. According to him, WiFi 6 has increased bandwidth by 2.8 times. As a result, the coverage of internet connections grows, allowing users to access the internet from anywhere. With uplink and downlink speeds of over 1Gbit/s, WiFi 6 also provides a high-speed uplink and downlink experience. Because of upgraded technologies and superior software, WiFi 6 has decreased latency and anti-interference. These improvements will benefit all WiFi 6 customers because they will have a faster internet connection while performing their activities and jobs. The creation of home value-added services like as online video training, cloud interaction, and enhanced Esports acceleration is also enabled by WiFi 6. WiFi 6 improves multi-user functionality while reducing terminal power consumption by 30%. Despite the fact that there are many other WiFi users in the same building, WiFi 6 users can stay connected. WiFi 6 also increases gateways' role as the control centre for smart homes. Smart home services like smart lighting, smart televisions, and Google Home would likely gain traction as a result of this. Wi-Fi 6 consumers can also add more smart technology to their houses because they can have up to 10 terminals per residence.

Lastly is Microsoft Power Business Intelligence, often known as Microsoft Power BI, is a data warehouse solution that incorporates data discovery, data management, data preparation, and an interactive dashboard to show and explain our data to users. We may download Microsoft Power BI via a browser, and there is a free edition for novice users who want to learn how to use the capabilities in Microsoft Power BI to create data visualisations. To create data, we must first import data from Microsoft Excel and SQL servers, then paste it into a blank table to construct data sets, models, and reports, before converting it to data visualisation. We can analyse variables in data we import from Microsoft Power BI's three data categories and turn them into data visualisations like pie charts, line charts, and bar charts that are more than enough for presenting our data to an audience. The data visualisation can be swapped out depending on the variable we choose, and it will transform other data visualisations based on the variable we decide. Once we're satisfied with our data visualisation, we can export it as PowerPoint presentations or PDF files in Microsoft Power BI to make it easier to understand for users. Because corporations want to keep all of their data in one place for monthly reports and exporting, PowerPoint presentations are the most preferred.

My AWS Journey

How do you get the badge?

I attended one talk about Amazon Web Services, AWS by Dr. Qusay Al-Maatouk. He explained to us how AWS cloud computing works, and all the services provided by AWS. From there, all students of SECP1513 automatically enrolled to attend the AWS academy. We have to complete all the online courses in order to get the badge as an indicator that we finished the online courses.

The learning path from knowing nothing about AWS until you get the AWS badge, the process of learning, exploration and understanding.

We were assigned to take 10 modules in total which begin with an introduction about AWS. Continue with details about cloud concept, cloud economics and billing, AWS global infrastructure, AWS cloud security, networking and content delivery, compute, storage in AWS, databases, cloud architecture and lastly, auto scaling and monitoring. This whole module taught me not just the surface of cloud computing but it really goes deeper in detail so people understand it better. The process is quite enjoyable as if I can attend this course together with my coursemates, despite having to spend a lot of time watching the videos and short quizzes and labs in the academy. I am glad I got to learn something not just in formal classes but also informal courses.

I grasp the benefits of the AWS Cloud and the fundamentals of its global infrastructure after completing the course. I'll be able to explain and demonstrate the key AWS services, such as compute, network, databases, and storage. I can communicate the financial benefits of the AWS Cloud, define basic billing and pricing models, and learn how to use pricing tools to make cost-effective AWS service selections for the finance-minded.

When do you start?

I start it on 26 December 2021  and finish them on 27 December 2021

How do you complete the 10 modules? How long did it took for you to complete the 10 modules?

I completed the modules by dividing them 5 module per day which took me in total 2 days to complete them.

What does the badge look like?

Your motivation to complete this project?

My motivation to complete this project myself. I want to gain as much knowledge as I can but why is knowledge important to me? From my understanding, knowledge is understanding and awareness of something. It refers to the knowledge, facts, abilities, and wisdom gained from life experiences and study. Knowledge is a vast idea with no limit. Cognitive processes, communication, perception, and reasoning all play a role in knowledge acquisition. It also refers to a person's ability to recognise and accept the truth. Knowledge can be used in both positive and harmful ways. As a result, knowledge has the ability to both create and destroy. Knowledge can be used for personal advancement as well as the advancement of a community, city, state, or nation. Some people may abuse it for bad reasons, causing harm not only to individuals but also to the community. I want myself to be fulfilled with as much knowledge so it would be easier for me to deal with any upcoming problems in my life.

My Reflection For This Course RSS

Acknowledgement for your lecturer

I would like to express my gratitude to my lecturer, Dr. Izyan Izzati binti Kamsani, who has been spending her time and dedicated herself to educate us throughout this subject. Without her guidance, I will be completely lost in a way to finish all the tasks given, especially the final project for this subject. She always reminds us of the deadline for every assignment. She is also very considerate of the deadline to keep on asking us whether we can make it on time or not else she will extend the submission date. She is so kind and patient in answering each question coming from all the students. Thank you for your amazing lectures and feedbacks and thank you for being so supportive! Thank you for amazing lectures and discussions! I learned a lot and benefited from your course!

Your opinion on whether this subject contributes to your knowledge on a specific area?

My opinion throughout this subject is it added up my knowledge about the whole technology world. I'm aware of the advantages and disadvantages of the technology itself. Without this subject, I would barely know anything in depth about the internet. Basically, I just found out that the internet is so much more than just for their searching function. It is amazing that now I understand what it means that the world is just at our fingertips. We can store information more than what we can imagine on the internet using cloud computing without worrying if it will disappear and we can always access it anytime and anywhere. Other than that, in this subject we learnt about development of technology especially in Malaysia. We can see that Malaysia is developing closer to other developed countries in order to be the best country in the world in terms of technology. For example, Malaysia is currently expanding the coverage of 5G for better and faster internet connection. They also started to give exposure to society about how Wifi6 is much better at maintaining steady top speeds while connected to many devices at the same time, even where previous WiFi versions would stumble. Recently, I had joined an industrial talk regarding augmented technology and what I gained was that augmented technology is an enhanced version of the real physical world that is achieved through the use of digital visual elements, sound, or other sensory stimuli delivered via technology. From this talk, I can see they've been trying to build something to make people easier and that's amazing because it will lessen our task, especially those who work in the industry. As a student, I can see the importance of getting on track with technology, especially to improve my daily life.
