Monday

25/6/18

- Learning about bearing component at the T58-GE100 engine.

  - There are 5 main bearing at the engine:

     - No. 1 bearing (roller type) - Located at the front disc shaft at the compressor rotor.

     - No. 2 bearing (ball type) - Located at the rear shaft at the compressor rotor.

     - No. 3 bearing (roller type) - Located at the turbine rotor and going to the 3rd stage nozzle of the gas generator.

     - No. 4 (roller) & 5 (ball) bearing - Located at the power turbine section of the engine.

 

Tuesday

- Learning about F.O.D.

- F.O.D stands for Foreign Object Damage.

  - Means the object that causes accident or damage to engine or aircraft.

- Cleaning or polishing the special tool for J85 type engine.

 

Wednesday

27/6/18

- Observe the work on the compressor casing for T58-GE100 engine.

  - The casing consists of lever pin for the variable stator blade at the outside of the casing.

  - The lever pin must be tightened by tightening the nut using the spring scale until the vane pivots when specific ranges ounces pull is reach according to the manual.

- Learn about fuel heater-strainer for C130 (Charlie) aircraft type engine.

  - Fuel heater-strainer to exchange heat.

 

Thursday

- Arranging blanks

  - Blanks is like a cover or cap of varying shape and colours to close a hole or tube hole at the engine being repaired to prevent F.O.D.

- Visiting test cell at building 32.

  - T58-GE100 engine is being set up for the performance of the engine.

- Moving another T58-GE100 engine from the test cell to the engine shop.

 

Friday

29/6/18

- Visiting test cell.

  - T58-GE100 engine is being tested.

- Moving T58-GE100 engine that has been finished repair from the engine shop to the test cell for testing.

- Doing sub-assembly work.

  - Attach a cover pad and air connector at the exhaust casing for T58-GE100 engine.
