SECP1513-08 TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATION SYSTEM

Our final group assignment is about the analysis between three mainstream cloud service providers which are Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Each of these cloud services provide different features and marketing elements that can attract the users. For this assignment, each members have been with different tasks where Eunice was in charge to write the introduction and conclusion, Dzakirin and Adam for the comparison between those cloud service providers and I was assigned to do the analysis of the cloud service providers as well as selecting which services is the most convenient with strong opinions. Moreover, our writing needs to be in format based on Springer article.

What I have learned from this assignment is that all cloud products have their own cons and pros. At first, we found it hard to summarize the information found on cloud services since they are very detail and different websites shows different opinions which sometimes confused us. Fortunately, we managed to work together and understand what is actually required to be written. My goal for this assignment is that I could use these cloud services to build my own app. Although we know that cloud application is more vulnerable to glitches and bugs, but its special features somehow still attracting users to keep using it globally. With the help of cloud service, I can easily and remotely constructed the needs of my app. Hence, I could also collaborate with other people online as they can provide more ideas and helps that I may need.

The necessary plan is needed when it comes to stand ourselves out in the industry field. Each people has their own talent and what this assignment could bring is it gives idea to the students differentiating which cloud services suitable for their project. There would more workers outside there who might not know cloud computing and this has given me another advantages among the candidates to be appointed for the specific job. There is no waste in time as we can start using it straight away with proper, simple tutorials and guidance from the experts. To summarize,  cloud computing has been an essential medium for project development especially in the midst of pandemic COVID-19.

This time around, our class had attend a webinar talk through Webex on the topic Industrial Revolution 4.0. The talk was conducted by Mr. Nik Kamal Izuddin bin Nik Ibrahim as the moderator with our honorable guest who was Mr. Redzuan Shah bin Yusoff. He is the director for Southern Strategic Economic Region under Telekom Malaysia.

The first half of talk was filled with the explanation and chronological events of industrial revolution. This personally gives me a wider and clear view about each phases as well as their contribution.  After that, he gave a brief explanation regarding education and electronic commerce 4.0. This section was meant to show how much was the current world's progress and how we as the younger generation can contribute and improvise what we have nowadays.

Based Mr.Redzuan's experience, he also found out there will a lot of potential new job that was related to IT. Some of them were drone inventor, 3D modelling technician and computer vision engineer. Most recent companies have also implemented artificial intelligence which somehow has become a great aid in terms of modelling and debugging a program. The talk ended with some words of encouragement from Mr.Redzuan. He mentioned that it is important for us especially as the students to explore and learn new things within our course. 

SUMMARY

The best that I learned from Mr.Redzuan is how passionate he was in his career. Personally, I rarely see people who work because of passion as most of them prefer a stable income and gaining high salary. Hence, I believe that it is important for one to instill interest in what they are doing so that they can remain and stick to their task within long term. Moreover, I also learn that the future that uphold the job vacancies will mostly required people to handle machines and robots. Due to this, I realized that I need to prepare mentally and physically on current challenges especially during COVID-19 pandemic. This is because we never know when the pandemic is going to end and how it will affect the future. Hence, through the early preparation, I can at least prove myself to be the best among all and not missing any of the opportunities given. To conclude, Industrial Revolution 4.0 do improve our lifestyles and things get tougher in terms of searching for a stable occupation.

On the 29th December 2020, our class had been invited to join a talk through video conferencing entitled "Inspiring Work Experience and COVID-19 Pandemic Challenge". This talk is conducted by three speakers who are able to obtain a stable job despite the pandemic as they are willing to share tips and tricks behind their success. The speakers are Mr. Tan Yong Keong, Mr. Mohamad Zamarul Akmal bin Mohd Hussin and Miss Qistina Batrisyia binti Azman Shah. They are all the alumni of UTM as fresh graduates. Each of the speakers managed to deliver their backstories as they managed to get our attention.  

SUMMARY

From this informative talk, we learn that it is important for us, the students to be prepared mentally and physically for the challenges in real life. Although we are still first year student, it is important to involved actively in various type of activities so that we are well prepared with the working environment. Hence, we would have to expect a greater challenge for our batch especially during pandemic COVID-19 in Malaysia.

This time around, our group has been given an opportunity to do a research regarding assembly the compartment parts in a computer. Each groups has been assigned the same rubric given by the lecturers where there are three parts altogether; PART A - TOOLS USED TO ASSEMBLY A PC, PART B - SKETCH AND LABEL THE PARTS IN A MOTHERBOARD, PART C - STEPS BY STEPS INSTRUCTION WHEN ASSEMBLY A PC.

SUMMARY

In a nutshell, what I have learned from this assignment is that I learn the right way on how to assembly a PC. Although I am already familiar with some parts required to build it but still, there are some crucial tools or parts that I did not realized. For example, I did not use the right type of screwdrivers when assembly a PC because I thought it does not matter on which screwdrivers to be used but it does. Hence, I strongly believed that I am now able and understood the proper way on setting up a PC although our group did not get the chance to do it physically.

Dated on 15th November 2020, our group has been assigned to create a project by using Design Thinking project. Since we need to collaborate and work as a team online, it has been a struggle because we are not able to design physically the project. Our team consists of 4 members with Adam Haqiem becomes the leader followed by Dzakirin, Eunice and me.

Our group has decided to create a device that helps e-commerce sellers to present their clothing products more efficiently. Thus, we have created The Dimenzio where it automatically measures the length of the cloth and display it on the screen. 

This is our prototype (The Dimenzio) for design thinking project, the white square on the top left displays the length and width of the shirt.

SUMMARY

What I have learned from this group assignment is the importance of working as a team. Everyone should play their parts in order to produce the intended objectives. This is not only applied in university only but also within working environment where one needs to solve their problems professionally. Hence, I am very grateful for being given this opportunity to be involved in the project because I also managed to know my team members in details. My goal for this project is hopefully we can commercialize it in the future since it develops a very crucial element that attract the sellers especially to enhance their clothing presentation. Although this might take more time and efforts, I think this will be worth the risk. 

In industry, there might be a lot of stand out projects when comparing to ours. This competitive environment allows us to think critically on how our product is different than others in a good way. There might several issues here and there since our product is only for clothing e-seller but not in other field. However, this does not that our product could not find its place to dominate even it is in a small and specific field. Thus, I really hope that this prototype can be conducted with more details and preparations.
