My name is Loo Zhi Yuan, a first-year student pursuing Computer Science in Data Engineering degree at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). I choose this degree is because I am very interested in its mode of study which is 2u2i that I can learn more of the skills practically. My lecturer, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Shahizan bin Othman is a responsible lecturer who is always responsible for his students. He always answers his student’s questions whenever it is on class or non-class time in a straightforward understanding way. He also explains the assignments and projects assigned in detail to ensure his student will understand the task very well. In short, I would like to thank him for teaching me.
In my opinion, Technology and Information System contributes a lot of valuable knowledge in a specific area such as software and hardware of computers such as storage and databases. It helps me to strengthen my fundamental knowledge in computer knowledge. Other than that, this subject also contributes to the understanding of new technology such as the internet of things and 5G from the industrial talk and assignments assigned by the lecturer.
Some plans and necessary improvements are needed for me to improve my potential in the industry. Firstly, I plan to improve my programming skills such as Python, C, and Java through Udemy or Coursera. This is because hard skills are essential skills that promise my position in the industry. Hence, it plays a vital role in improving my potential in the industry.
Other than that, soft skills are also a necessary improvement for me to improve my potential in the industry. In the industry, work ethics is crucial to develop because it will show my positive attitude with more responsibility, reliability, and discipline. Therefore, I should develop and improve my work ethics to improve my potential in the industry.
The goal concerning me in this course is to learn a lot of new things that I did not see and touch before, such as data and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Then, I can apply all the skills and knowledge that I learn from this course in the future whenever in my casual time or my career. Other than that, I also dream of becoming a qualified data engineer who can contribute to the company I work for one day. In short, all of the above that I mention has been the most significant goal and dreams that are concerning in this course.

Title of Talk: Industrial Talk about Introduction to Data Visualization
Speaker: Mr Isma Redha from iCEP

Based on the exciting talk by Mr Isma Redha from iCEP, I had gained the information, deeper understanding and further knowledge on the data visualisation and Microsoft Power BI. As a foundation knowledge before using Microsoft Power BI, the speaker introduces data visualisation, such as the several types of data, data relationships, and chart types that we should know. Other than that, I learned the basic skills on using Microsoft Power BI that I can use to connect our data in the reporting or presenting. Furthermore, the talk also makes me realise the data visualisation trends with all their benefits. It makes the complex understanding and detailed data more familiar and convenient to most people with greater accessibility, organisation, and visibility. In conclusion, I sincerely hope that the data visualisation and Microsoft Power BI can be popularised to most people nowadays to notice the charm of technology development impact our lives.

Title of Talk: Industrial Talk about 5G and Wifi 6

I gained a clear picture of how far 5G and Wi-Fi 6 technologies will develop in the future due to Mr Nicholas Yong's informative presentation. I was motivated that 5G will be a game-changer for all humans in virtual reality development and advancement (VR). As I know, virtual reality is a game-changer in the modern era due to the immersive and three-dimensional experience it provides. Thus, VR is critical in the development of the metaverse concept. 5G can help virtual reality users avoid motion sickness due to the low and unstable latency, as low as 20 milliseconds. 5G will enable high-speed and Retina-quality virtual reality experiences with up to 5037x5707 pixel resolution. For full-view panoramic video mosaics, six angles will be available.
To summarise, I hope that 5G will achieve global coverage, particularly in rural areas, and eventually permeate every aspect of our lives. 5G will significantly improve the convenience and practicality of human life. Thus, people can use VR to enter the unknown world of the metaverse and explore the unknown.

Title of Talk: Industrial Talk about Smart Campus, The Journey starts here

Based on the valuable talk by Mr Goh Bih Der from Commscope on 29th November 2021, I have found out that the presence of network infrastructure is becoming more and more crucial. When people talk about network infrastructure, the smart campus always comes to my students' minds. This talk motivated me to how smart campus innovation will help human life in education.
Technology plays a vital role in human life in this rapid development information age, including campus students. The concept of a smart campus will provide smart living, smart learning, and smart security. First and foremost, a smart campus can enhance campus security and safety with the help of IoT devices such as smart sensors, smart locks, and other equipment. Other than that, everything on the campus can work automatically, like smart lighting to reduce operational costs. Furthermore, students can access their study materials anywhere with the digital portals and better learning experiences with technology such as Internet Protocol television (IPTV).
In sum, the innovation of smart campuses provides more convenient, safe and cost-saving learning and living in-campus experiences to the student and other people. I believe that this innovation will be applied sooner to most universities or college campuses.
Title of Talk: Industrial Talk about Current Trend of Augmented Reality (AR) in Industry

From the valuable talk by Dr. Ruzimi Mohamed on 18th November 2021, I learned that augmented reality plays a significant role in the evolution of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) and the further development of human life. Augmented reality is predicted to significantly impact several aspects of human life, especially the creation of metaverse. As I know, the chief executive officer of Meta company, Mark Zuckerberg, tries hard to make a metaverse. Thus, the metaverse is a virtual-reality space combining augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 5G networks and other technologies. Therefore, humans can experience everything in the metaverse, including education, social, and entertainment. In sum, I believe that augmented reality will be developing quickly to implement all the use cases of augmented reality into human life.

Title of Talk: Industrial Talk about Amazon Web Service (AWS) & Cloud Computing

Based on the impressive talk by Dr. Qusay Al-Maatouk from Asia Pacific University on 15th November 2021, there are some critical advantages of cloud computing. The advantages of cloud computing are shown in several aspects, such as education, entertainment, and not limited to business. In education, cloud computing can enhance students experience in online studies, especially in the pandemic. For example, it enables accession to learn materials in just minutes. The service is lower costs affordable by most colleges, schools, and universities. Cloud computing security such as AWS ensures that students' privacy or colleges and schools are protected. With cloud computing, we believe can boost the development of humans, especially students.

I gained some notable information from the industrial talk that enabling technologies will help human life in various aspects. The most crucial element is the changes in the criminal. With the development of enabling technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), people can utilise the functions of AI in facial recognition to identify the criminal suspect. Other than that, enabling technology like cybersecurity also assists the investigation of criminal cases. For example, Malaysia has a digital forensic service called CyberCSI that helps law enforcement seize evidence and collect data from the crime scene. Then, they will extract the data and analyse it to export into a report then present it to the court.
At last, I can know how vital enabling technologies will affect our human life. Therefore, people should work hard to ensure the national policy will be completed on time. At the time, Malaysia was able to step into the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Based on the industrial talk, I succeeded in discovering that the innovation of smart cities helps humans in various aspects. The most significant element is the changes in our daily life. As I learned from the informative talk, the innovation of smart cities provides features such as Smart Fleet helps us real-time track the operation of the logistics, such as our parcel delivery status. Other than that, this concept enhanced the current water systems by replacing the Smart Water Integrated Management System (SWIMS) that helps us reduce water wastage in people daily lives. Besides, a Smart Services feature provided in the Smart City is designed and developed based on citizens' needs. Finally, it showed the importance of the innovation of smart cities that could impact our daily lives. We should always work hard together to support and develop IR4.0.

My Reflection on the AWS

A summary of what you have gained from completing the course (get a badge).
After completing this course, I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge about services provided by AWS, such as cloud economics and billing, cloud security, networking and content delivery, databases, storage and moreover. The course also introduces me to different AWS services such as Amazon DynamoDB for databases, AWS EC2 for compute, AWS S3 for storage, and more to go. Furthermore, this course provides the labs for me. Therefore, I can get in touch with AWS services practically.
Your motivation to complete this project?
My motivation to complete this project is based on the intense and crucial AWS that I am not used to. It is transferring me a lot of new and fresh knowledge that makes me very interested in what it will share in the next module. Apart from that, my lecturer's encouragement also encourages me to complete this project.
Your opinion on whether getting the badge is easy or difficult? Which module is the easiest/most difficult?
In my opinion, I will say it’s difficult to get the badge in the first place because I was not that interested in it earlier. On the other hand, I started to think that getting this badge is relatively easy if I focus on what it is sharing. At last, I think module 1, Cloud Concepts Overview, is the easiest because it only shares the basics of cloud computing and AWS and module 10, Auto Scaling and Monitoring, is the most difficult for me because I am stuck in lab 6 frequently.
What’s a badge worth?
This badge is worth valuable practical experience getting in touch with AWS and knowledge of new things. This badge will enhance me in my future career and motivate me to get advanced on the other badge.
Feedback whether getting the badge to improve your knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing.
From my point of view, getting the badge is making a vast and crucial improvement for my knowledge and skills on Cloud Computing. In the journey of getting the badge, the course shared a lot of knowledge, such as different functions and applications of AWS services on Cloud Computing. In addition, I was also able to hand-on practically on the lab and sandbox provided in various modules to improve my skills in Cloud Computing.
Your opinion on whether every company should shift to Cloud Computing?
In my opinion, every company should shift to Cloud Computing, especially the small and mid-size companies. This is because Cloud Computing by the well-known cloud service provider such as Amazon can provide a reasonable pricing and broad coverage of available zones. Cloud Computing will be a better choice than the traditional one for most companies in this modern age.
Your opinion whether every computer science/UTM student should learn Cloud Computing (get the AWS badge?).
In my view, I will recommend learning Cloud Computing especially getting the badge to every UTM student, not only computer science student only. This is because Cloud Computing will be one of the most influential hard skills in this technology era, and most of the country is also entering the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
Any advice to your friends who have not to get the AWS badge yet?
I will advise my friends who have not gotten the AWS badge yet to get it as soon as possible and focus 100% on what it is sharing.
What is your direction after completing the badge?
After completing the badge, I plan to get another badge like Data Analytics in year two or my sem break. Furthermore, I am also interested in learning about trends in technology such as Augmented Reality (AR).
Your opinion about getting the AWS badge that is included in the SECP1513 subject.
In my opinion, I am pretty surprised that getting the AWS badge is included in the SECP1513 subject in the first place. After I got the AWS badge, I started to understand why it is included, and it is one of the most significant knowledge that I have learned in the SECP1513 subject.

How do you get the badge?
I got the badge by completing every module, including the lab and little quiz provided in the AWS course. Other than that, the encouragement from my lecturer was also essential for me to get the badge.
The learning path from knowing nothing about AWS until you get the AWS badge and the process of learning, exploration, and understanding.
I keep understanding the contents of modules and reviewing the slides or notes provided in the course. It quickly made me understand AWS and helped me get the AWS badge.
When do you start , how do you complete the 10 modules and how long it took for you to complete the 10 modules?
I started my AWS journey in the second week of the SECP1513 course that my lecturer has told me. Furthermore, I have my timetable and study plan to complete a few modules on certain days of a week. Therefore, it only takes me two weeks to complete the ten modules.
