For Programming Technique I, the language that was taught is C++. At first I was curious why we have to master this language when there are much easier language out there that are more popular now. After reading a few articles on the internet, I finally know that C++ is important because it gives many invaluable insights in the way computer programs work and operate which is different than other languages. Moving from C++ to other languages is fairly easy but moving the other way around will be difficult. It’s safe to say that if you can master C++, other languages will not be a problem.
I already took up C programming during my foundation studies so C++ is not foreign to me. It can be said that programming is my most favourite subject. It is almost similar so after a little practice, I already can get the grasp of it. Because of that, I did not give my full attention during class I thought that I was already good. I never encounter any hardships during tests nor assignment. I became arrogant and study lesser for my practical test. As a result, I struggled a lot while doing my practical test and I submitted an unfinished code. I realized that my overconfidence will someday affect my grade. After that, I started to pay full attention in class and do all the exercises given by my lecturer. I wish I was more humble and started doing this from the beginning. Our lecturer, Madam Lizawati is really good at teaching programming, her passion for it can be obviously seen through her teaching. Her patience and encouragement is the reason why I am doing well in this subject.
The skills I gained from this course is problem solving skills and logic skills. Everyone can be a programmer but these skills will determine how good of a programmer I am. This subject also taught me to solve any problems with the least complex way not just in programming but also in real life.
To have a career in the IT industry, being a good programmer is very crucial. If I am not a good programmer, I might not get a job at all. I am planning to learn more in depth about C++ so that I can really master this language. I hope this will make more employable in the future.
