SECI1013 Discrete Structure

   After attending discrete structure lectures for one semester, I finally understood that discrete structure is basically mathematics operations that only involves discrete elements. From my point of view, discrete structure is important for computer science students because it actually is a collection of techniques and algorithms to solve problems. Technically that is what programming is – using algorithms to solve problems.

   I thoroughly enjoy this subject as mathematics have always been my favourite subject since I was in middle school. After attending the first few classes, I thought that this class was going to be easy so I slacked off a bit. As we all know, passion alone is not enough to succeed, hard work is also needed. As expected, I started to struggle during the fifth week but I managed to get back on my feet by doing various exercises and past years. Even if my result for this subject will not be the best but I am still proud of myself for giving my all for this subject. Honestly, I know that I can actually do better if I did not slack off at the beginning. that is the only thing I wish I’d do differently. Our lecturer which is Dr. Noorfa is a very good at teaching and it is one of the reasons that made me want to thrive in the subject.

   This subject enhanced my problem solving skill. With this skill, I will be more creative and analytical while solving problems in the future. This skill and knowledge I gained from this subject are not only applicable and important for my future career in the IT industry but also in real life. I hope that I can explore more about discrete mathematics as it really interests me.
