As a primer subject, this course will introduce students to information systems and technology (IS/IT), as well as its uses in daily life both at home and at work. Various aspects of IS/IT encompassing hardware, software, network, communications, internet, multimedia, graphics and systems applications will be introduced. Students will be equipped with basic skills in handling PC installation and productivity tools via practical work in the labs, which shall comprise a major part of the study. At the end of the course, student should be able to distinguish basic IS/IT component and applications.

Design Thinking

Design thinking is a process of critical thinking used to develop solutions to problems through collaboration, innovation and design. Design thinking helps prepare student for a world where skills such as teamwork, problem solving, communication, analysis, creativity and the ability to influence others is becoming increasingly important in the work force. Students need to record and document all the process in design thinking which empathy, define, ideate, prototype and testing.

Talk 1-Industrial 4.0:Past, Present, Future

On 24 November 2020, a sharing session had been held which was 'Industrial 4.0: Past, Present, Future' on Cisco WebEx platform. All of Technology and Information System students were required to listen to this talk given by Mr Redzuan Shah bin Yussoff and Mr Nik Kamal Izuddin bin Nik Ibrahim from 10AM until 12PM.

Talk 2-The Importance and Trending of IT Project Management

On December 1, 2020, an industrial talk was conducted for Year 1 TIS students with title 'The Importance and Trending of IT Management' which started from 10AM until 11AM. The moderator of the talk was Dr. Goh Eg Su and the speaker was Mr. Khairul Reezan Ruslan.

Talk 3-Inspiring Work Experience and Covid 19 Pandemic Challenge

On December 29 2020, an alumni sharing with title 'Inspiring Work Experince and Covid 19 Pandemic Challenge' had been held on Cisco WebEx platform. All of Year 1 enroll in TIS course were required to attend this meeting which took about one hour.

Step by Step Basic PC Assembly

The objective of this assignment is to :

1. Identify and distinguish basic components of CPU
2. Understand functions of the CPU basic components
3. Understand the process to assemble a PC
4. Demonstrate the assembly of a PC

Cloud Computing Service Provider

Students are required to write a group report regarding the topic of Cloud Computing Fundamentals.

Reflection

My goal concerning this course is to be able know more about the Information System and Technology and relate it with my daily life to help me to understand better how it works. I can know more about Internet, software, PC  handling and many more by joining this course and this will help me in the future for my career life which is also related to this subject.

 

To improve my potential in the industry, I need to keep updated about the IT world because the technology kept changing and something new comes everyday. Hence, to stay in the industry, I should get more knowledge and keep updated so I will never miss useful information that might be needed for my career life.
