I learned how the technicians conduct a skimming disc. The main advantage of brake disc skimming is that it is able to improve partially worn discs to the extent that they can perform as if they were completely brand new. This essentially restores them to their original factory performance. It also extends the life span of existing brake pads and discs.

Firstly, detach the brake pad housing from the brake disc. Carefully bring the brake disc to the side for taking the measurement of the brake disc’s thickness. Record the thickness of the brake disc on the brake judder form. Then, the brake pad will bring to another workshop for the skimming process. After the skimming process is done, record the new thickness of the brake disc on the form and attach the form with a repair order sheet. Apply grease on the back of the brake disc before attaching it back with bearing. Normally, the technician will perform brake service before the job is finish.
