KOO KAH MUN

          In reflection on the group project of Production Planning and Control, I am so glad that I can work in a team with Yow Wen, Sin Chee and Fatin. From this project, I have learned how to approach a company and tried to help them to solve the problem that they faced. There are some difficulties that were faced by our group when doing this project during the Covid pandemic. It is difficult for four of us to gather and have a face to face discussion and also the industrial visit to the company but we still manage to solve these difficulties in the end. First of all, I would like to thank A-T Mould (M) Sdn Bhd for allowing us the chance to interview them and visit their company. Besides, I would also like to thank Dr Wong who always guides us and gives feedback after our presentation in order to complete our project perfectly.

          By conducting this report, I have more understanding about the topic of forecasting, capacity planning and short-term scheduling. Forecasting the demand of a company will allow the company to know the estimated sales of the future months. This will prevent the overproduction and save cost. Thus, capacity planning can allow the company to know the break-even point or sales of their company in order to reach the break-even point which has no loss and profit. Whereas, for short-term scheduling, they can decide which job to be done first in order to reduce the job lateness.

          On the other hand, this is the first time that I interviewed with the director of the company A-T Mould (M) Sdn Bhd, Mr. Vincent. Although I was a little nervous, the interview session was completed successfully. I had this opportunity to get to know more about this industry of plastic molding. From this interview session, I had known and understood the process of plastic molding as Mr. Vincent explained to us step by step. Besides that, the experience of industrial visit to A-T Mould (M) Sdn Bhd is really great as I can learn a lot of things that are out of syllabus and gain experiences.

          My role in this project is to collect the data from the company and then proceed with the analysis of forecasting. Data collection is done together with my team member, Yow Wen. We had to divide the task evenly and do our own part respectively. I did appreciate that I am in such a good team, as we all are doing our own task well and completed on time. Whenever we face any problem in our project, we will discuss it in group in order to get the best solution. The progress of our project is on schedule and everything works fine.
