Chinese New Year Celebration with the theme “Welcome The New Year With Five Senses” is an event that held by the Jawatankuasa Kolej Mahasiswa (JKM), Kolej Tun Razak. The purpose of this event is to introduce to the students about the traditional of Chinese New Year.  During the celebrations, there is a Chinese Calligraphy booth provided to show the visual arts in China. The participants also can have this opportunity to try Chinese traditional brush writing on the Chinese Calligraphy paper. In addition, there is a special session for this celebration which called Lao Sheng. This Lao Sheng is a ritual that toss the mixed ingredients high in air which literally means to ‘move forward’ in the new year. Besides, there are also a lot of performances such as Wu Shu performances, dance performances, singing performances and Diabolo performances. The participants can have lots of fun during the Chinese New Year Celebration. Based on this event, I as a member of protocol department is required to take care of the program flow that had enhanced my leadership skills and I were required to be communicate with person-in-charge of each performance teams. 

This is an interesting activity for me as all of the participants from different races can celebrate Chinese New Year and understand about the tradition of Chinese New Year. My role in this event is to alert with the time of performance of each group so that the event can runs smoothly without exceeding the time limit and inform the emcee to cue next performances. After joining and holding this event, I really enjoyed myself and developed the leadership skills throughout the event as I am responsible for taking care the flow of the program. Throughout the event, I had also developed my communication skills because I required to deal with each performance team with their requirements and needs during their performances. I had to understand how their flow of performances and then assist them to do some simple set up. I really appreciate to join this Chinese New Year Celebration and as a crew for this event.
