ALUMNI SHARING SESSION

On 29th December 2020, I attended an online alumni sharing session organized by Technology and Information System course, hosted by Dr. Johanna Ahmad with three alumni as the speakers which were Miss Batrisyia Binti Azman Shah, Mr Mohamad Zamarul Ahmad Bin Mohd Hussin and Mr. Tan Yeong Kong.

In this sharing session, the alumni shared their experience on how they manage to secure their current job as a fresh graduate. They gave tips to the audience on how they still manage to get job in this pandemic because they just graduated in the pandemic and at the same time still got an offer to work at the company they applied for internship. 

Mr Yong Keong mentioned about being active in university by joining lots of competition to improve the soft skills because in these days, most companies tend to hire people with good soft skills and technical skills. Both skills can be learned and improved when the students actively participate in competition because they get to meet new people that might have better skills than them, so they can learn from the experts.

Miss Qistina brought up the importance of having great technical skills like using python and SQL for the programming languages. She also mentioned about being active during the internship so the manager can see the efforts and hard works.

Mr Zamarul mentioned about improving soft skills and learning new technical skills as the company might look for candidates who are able to perform great technical skills. He also stated that students should be able to work in a team because projects usually involve the whole team, not only individually.
