Community Service STEM Program At SK Taman Daya

The programme of STEM at SK Taman Daya was held on the 15th of November. It was all started at 10 o’clock in the morning infront of the college 9’s bus stop. All of us gathered there as the one that are responsible of this programme are giving some briefing of things that all of us should do when we arrived.

We arrived at SK Taman Daya for about 10 minutes with bus. When we arrived, we found that the school are having some event. There so many people in the school and there are so many activities being held there. When we arrived, we went to our given place to prepare all activities that we have been preparing.

There are so many  activities that we are helding. The first one is, cup flyer. Cup flyer is a game that consist of 2 paper cup being glued together and some rubber to make it fly. The way to make it fly is almost the same with bayblade because it should be spin but in the air. The second is popsicle stick catapult. Popsicle stick catapult is a game that requires some rubber, some popsicle sticks and some papers to make it look like some ball. This game is played like a tank of war. In this game, we should compete with others to put the balls in its place.

The third one is, baloon power car. Baloon power car is a game that are using some carton. It is used to make it to be alike with cars. The fourth game is, paper helicopter. Paper helicopter is a game that are using some papers, marker, paperclips and scissor. This game first are made with the papers being cut in a long shape and cut half of the shape. Then, the paper are fold and hold by the paperclips. After that, the paper helicopter are done. It is played by spinning it in the air.

The fifth game, is paper parachute. Paper parachute is also a game that are using paper. This game also need to use some strings. It is made by attaching the strings to the papers and played as if it is a real parachute. The last game is pyramid cup. Pyramid cup is a game that are using some paper cups. This game need to use some speed when we are playing it. It is a bit difficult but it is a very intersting game to be played. All of the students in SK Taman Daya are very interested in all of our games.

All of us prepared the materials that are needed for all of the games. When the preparation are finished, there are many students come to us and join all the game. It was a very well accepted things by the students. All of them very enjoyed every each of our games. Some of them even can not take their eyes away from the games.

We were also enjoying the activities. Then suddenly, heavy rain came pouring to our location. All of us came panicking all over the place because some of our stand are near to the outside of the tend. We move all the stuff that are needed as fast as we can. It was some kind of a shock to us and our stand are no longer very crowded because the heavy rain.

It is very difficult for some kids, but it is quite a good situation for the students that are trapped in our tend. There are also some people that went to our tend to take shelter from the heavy rain. All of that situation made our stand not very crowded but it can make people to stay longer in our stands to enjoy all the games that we have prepared.

After some times, the heavy rain went away and the day become bright again. After that, some students went to our stands again. After a while, we have finished our games and we went on break. We eat some lunch together and some of us went to other stands in the school because the school has some event. Some of us also anjoying our own game and laughing together.

This trip to SK Taman Daya is very fun and memorable. All of us are working together to attract other’s attention to go to our stands and we get to play with all of the students that came by to play. In this trip, we were taught how to work together, attract people and act with any circumstances and situations that happened , eventhough it was already planned or not planned at all.

This trip also taught us how to communicate and how to socialize with others. All of that are important for us because we will face so many different types of person in the world of job. All of that also can have some impact in our job’s future because, if we don’t know how communicate with others, we would not know gain informations. If we don’t know how to attract someone’s attention, we can not make people know our ability and others will even ignore us. Then teamwork, that are the most important lesson of today’s trip. Teamwork is the keyword of our future because we are living in a society and we will never succeded if we do all things by our own. We need others in our life.

In the Webinar the discussion are about how some opportunities and strategies in a crisis that made a huge scar in human's history with Captain Caryno Latiff and his Terbang & Teroka team speak up about what happened and how they dealt with the aftermath crisis.
The impact of the aftermath crisis put out a huge trauma for the survivors of the incident especially the pilots and the crew of the airplane. They witnessed everything from minutes before it's happened to minutes after it all happened. By being the survivors, they became someone that are responsible to all that happened and receive bad treatments from the families of the one that aren't survived. They even called as 'murderer'. It gives a lot of pain to them with having to face the trauma and the bad treatments itself.
In this talk, Captain Caryno shared how he felt back then and told us that the pain itself can not be erased. The pain itself give opportunities to the future. It gave courage to move on and to identify what was wrong and what should be changed. Everything that happened are occurred for some reasons. It is usual to feel the pain and felt weak and not wanting to move on. Captain Caryno said that it took time to move on wanting to process all the things that happened.
Captain Caryno explained the things that caused the incident. First of all, its because the weather at that time is bad. The weather is not a usual rainstorm but it was a type of typhoon rain and that cause the monitoring tower find difficulties in seeing the plane whether they are in the right track to takeoff. Because of the weather, the pilots could not identify the track and end up in the wrong track and that when the incident happened.
Then, the incident become more disastrous because the fuel in the wing side cause some fire and make the plane to lose balance. The fatal side of the crash is in the middle and that made a great number of victims.
After the incident happened, the are some core issues that are faced by the captain. The first one is they have to face the aviation accident investigation. It is to find out the most probable cause of the accident. This also represents a technical investigation in nature. At the practical level, however, this report is often used as legal evidence before the court. The second is prosecution. They are facing the institution and conducting of legal proceedings against someone in respect of a criminal charge and also having a legal implications that are the results or consequences of being involved in something according to the law. Then the third is the industrial or employment issues of the company. However, the company are supporting them and help them to face difficulties of the accident.
Regardless all of the issues, Captain Caryno told that there are several lessons that can be gained from the incidents. For the aftermath, he said that the pain that he felt are prolonged, extended and traumatic for him but from the pain, he learned that family, connectedness and network are very important that it gave him and his friend all the support that they need and become resilient to difficulties that they are facing. And from the pain, he realized that by feeling the pain, he can change all things that came wrong and make it a lesson to do better in the future.
