The first day I started my internship at Mega Mount Industrial Gases Sdn Bhd (MMIG) is 20 July 2020 and finished at 10 October 2020. MMIG is located at PLO 192, Jalan Cyber 8, Kawasan Perindustrian Senai Fasa 4, 81400 Senai, Johor.

Mega Mount Industrial Gases Sdn Bhd was founded in 1997 by a group of industry veterans with proven track record in the gas industry. Headquarter is located in Senai and branch sales office is located in Melaka. The first refilling plant was complete in 1999 and started its operation in 2000. The second plant which is dissolved acetylene plant was complete and started its operation in 2011.

MMIG is specializes in providing total gas solution consisting of manufacturing and distribution of industrial, pure and medical gases. Also, MMIG also create a brand new home grown brand for gas cutting and welding equipment known as GAZERS. MMIG also specialize in distribution of cyrogenic liquid such as liquid nitrogen which mainly for lab usage.

I was attached under production department, whereby this department is in charge of production and refilling of the gases. Various tasks is assigned by superior to train me to an professional engineer.

1. Installation of flashback arrestor in dissolved acetylene plant.

2. Assits in production plant and dissolved acetylene plant.

3. Draft the work instruction for oxygen anaylzer equipment, mixture gas refilling process and Dewar and PLC tank refilling process.

4. Assists in QC department.

5. AutoCad drawing.

During my 12 weeks of industrial training, I have to adapt to the working environment and improve myself to more knowledgeable engineer by self-learning. I have learnt how to write the work instruction step by step clearly to facilitate the user to use the equipment in simplest word. Also, I learned to be careful and critical thinking in safety sector. For example, operations manager always ask me to bear in mind: Safety first. Engineer must always think about safety before carry out any activities, not only to human safety, but also environmental safety. I was surprised when operations manager explain the safety precaution equipment in the plant, because I feel TOO SAFE when I am in the plant. For example, there are few gas detector in the plant. There will be alarm when the leaking of gases. We are safely protected by the safety equipment designed by engineer. By the influence of my operations manager, now I go to the shopping centre also will look for the safety equipment and safety escape route. Safety is now engrave to my brain. However, I faced some problem during industrial training, which I found that knowledge learned in university is not enough to use in industrial. Thus I have to spend more time to read scientific journal to know the principle of each process or equipment in plant.

I am very appreciate that Mega Mount Industrial Gases Sdn Bhd accept me as an intern student. I was treated well in the company even I will only spend 12 weeks with them. Everyone in the company is friendly and helpful, the most important things is, I learned a lot of knowledge that I cannot learned in the class, this is the most precious thing I gain through industrial training. This is a wonderful experience having internship in Mega Mount Industrial Gases Sdn Bhd.

Operations manager, Mr Gwee, that taught me a lot of engineering knowledge as well as soft skills and hard skills. He treat me like his friend when teaching knowledge to me. Thank you for your treatment during 12 weeks of internship.
