Mini Report
This event is annually held to give opportunity for the 1st year students to know each other. This program also aims to build relationship and teamworking among them. I am responsible as unit activity to plan activity and games during the event.
The first graduate attributes that I think important is communication skills. To make sure this event successfully conducted, we keep update with other committee members to ensure that the progress is coordinated. Other than that, we also use leadership and teamworking skills to plan the activity. As example, when I faced any problem with my tasks, other committee members help me to solve it together.
This event is prepared about 1 month before the actual date. During that time, I find another committee to become facilitator and handle the game during the event. I faced several problems to find suitable person but luckily, other committee members help me to solve it. We also test several games to play together to ensure it is suitable to play online and did rehearsals before the actual event. The program starts with some briefing before the participants continue with their group meeting at Discord channel. During this time, the participants had their time to have conversation with their group and facilitator. They also required to discuss about their poster. The participants then submitted their poster before went back to the main meeting for the first game. For the game, each group sent the representative members to play. The event then continued after lunch break with another games. We initially planned to have poster presentation at night, but for inevitable reason, we cannot continue according to the tentative at night. Hence, for the poster making, the winner is judged by committee member.
Self-Reflection
Throughout the event, I am responsible to ensure the activity or games in the event run smoothly. I learn new knowledge of social media that can be used to converse with other people, Discord. I also gain more confidence to lead a group to do work together. Since this is my first time become a part of the committee, there are some weaknesses I want to improve. Firstly, I need to make another plan if unavoidable problem happen during the event. Since this event involve a number of people, I need to make sure the committee that lead by me understand clearly about the details and managed to enlighten the participants. In addition, I also need to make sure I did not miss any task that assigned to my units. This is to lessen the problem in the future during the event. To conclude, I have a new experience in handling activity online. This experience surely can be used when I am involved with another event.
