Annual Grand Meeting CGMA is conducted as an annual event to elect new committee members. This event also acts as a platform for members to voice out their feedback or issues on past program and give suggestions. In this event, I joined as a member of association and took part for voting the new committee members.
Leadership and teamworking skills are one of the graduate attributes that are focused on this program. Since the manifesto presented by the candidates is different from each other and sometimes I have different opinion, I still need to respect their ideas. Other than that, communication skills also important during giving speech to ensure the audience manage to get the point.
The program started first with recitation prayer and speech from the president of 2021/2022 CGMA. The president of CGMA also presented the summary of activities held by the association for this session. The program continued with presentation from treasurer and Programming Expert (PE) leader before dismissing the 2021/2022 CGMA committee. Next, the election for new committee members is held by nominating the candidates during the meeting. The nominated candidates need to prepare their manifesto before presenting to the members. After all candidates for each position done presenting, we are required to vote them by choosing the suitable candidates. In total, there are 6 positions and the program finally concluded end after the voting ended.
Self-Reflection
This event is a meaningful event where all the members gather to create the committee to lead this organization. From this event, I have known many members from different year although only virtually. This is a great opportunity considering that most of us rarely cross path from academic matters. I also learnt about communication skills. Since this program is annual event that include electing new committee, we are required to follow certain rules to ensure the audience can hear clearly and to avoid miscommunication problem. As a result, the event run smoothly and we managed to finish according to tentative. One of the challenges that I identify during this program was when we need to choose a candidate to vote. There are a lot of candidates that I think fit well but each person can only vote one person for each position. At the end, I choose the candidate that I think able to lead the organization well.
