Mini Report

Citra Daksina Dance Club conducted dance workshop among UTM students on the notion of culture, art, and the history of Malay traditional dance. In addition to applying dance skills, this workshop emphasises discipline and fundamental dance principles. Futhermore, students are taught every traditional Malay dancing style, including zapin, inang, joget, and others.

As students are needed to work in groups and communicate, this programme places a strong emphasis on a few graduate attribute skills. Additionally, this also involves the ability for students to work together in groups. Next, adaptability and thinking skills are emphasised since students must behave and think in accordance with the situation and work at hand.

This workshop lasts for two days. Students are exposed to a dancing introduction on the first day. The exposure to costumes and stage makeup follows in the program's next section. The second day's activity is a game, while the last one focuses on the theory of how the body moves when dancing.

Self-reflection

As a high commitee of the programme, I have gotten a lot out of this programme. It was a huge task for me to lead my committee well. I was able to prove my communication skills as I have to communicate with other people such as my commitee members and person in charge for the venue to reserve the place.

I am able to contribute my skills to the programme. I take the lead to be the director of the programme and mentor of the group during the programme. I also take care of my commitee members and students who joined the programme for two days.

Through this programme, I was able to learn a lot from my shortcomings. As an example, I was unable to guide my committee to reserve the program's location early since I lack the necessary knowledge. Thus, now I know how to do a lot of things to conduct a programme. This enhance my leadership skills along with other graduate attributes skills too.
