This camp was organised by UTM International and hosted multiple societies from around the world. I have decided to join as a president of the International Student Society (ISS) of Libya in this camp due to improving my leadership skills. Moreover, the camp was focused on leadership and communication skills as well as thinking skills. The event was held at BAYU BALAU BEACH RESORT.
Introduction
The camp started by Workshop Briefing, Ice Breaking & Check-in
The participants all came from different backgrounds not only geographically but in terms of their speciality when it comes to their involvement in leadership. The camp was managed by Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Ariffin B. Abu Hassan and UTM International. This was a pleasant surprise given the fact I did not expect it.
The camp was aimed to gather all ISS countries and get to know each other.
Presentation of top 3 plan activities
The first activity was a presentation on the top three upcoming activities by each ISS. However, I presented my top three activities and I was a bit nervous because it was my first time presenting in front of amount participants but at the end of the day I did well.
Cultural Performance from each ISS with traditional clothes
The second activity was cultural performance; each ISS has to do a cultural performance. It was nice to do culture exchange and to know more about other cultures. However, my group and I dressed in traditional clothes and performed a song and dance.
Conclusion
This camp had a great benefit to me. I felt the UTM organiser knew how to gather the students with a warming attitude that made it easy for us to interact with other ISS. I was fascinated by Dr. Mohd Ariffin ability to juggle multiple responsibilities as a vice-chancellor, a father and a lecturer at the same time. He is a great example of a determined individual who can achieve success in life.
