Mini Report

In my role as the head of the multimedia and publicity department for Kabaddi Champ '23, I am delighted to present this concise report, outlining key aspects of the event. This includes the reasons behind our participation, the focus on Graduate Attributes, and an overview of the activities undertaken during the event.

Kabaddi Champ 2023 is a workshop organized by Persatuan Kabaddi UTM, aimed at introducing UTM students to the history and skills of Kabaddi. Kabaddi, a team sport originating from India and played in several South Asian countries, combines elements of wrestling and rugby. The name itself means "holding of hand" in Tamil, highlighting the crucial aspect of the game.

This program provides a unique opportunity for UTM students from various cultural backgrounds to learn about the rich history of Kabaddi. It serves as a platform for teaching fundamental defensive skills and techniques of the game, helping participants develop a positive regard for their own culture while fostering an appreciation for other cultures. By exploring both the similarities and differences among cultures, students gain a deeper understanding of their own cultural heritage as well as that of others.

The workshop involved students from UTM as well as three different secondary schools. As the head of multimedia and publicity, my responsibilities included creating and promoting posters, videos, and images throughout UTM and nearby schools to generate awareness about the event. Additionally, I oversaw the printing of certificates for the participants.

I am delighted to share that the event was a resounding success, with students expressing their happiness and satisfaction with the knowledge they gained. The workshop not only introduced UTM students to the traditional Indian game of Kabaddi but also fostered stronger bonds between Indian students and their multiracial peers in UTM.

Overall, Kabaddi Champ 2023 served as an educational and cultural exchange, enriching the participants' understanding of Kabaddi's history, skills, and cultural significance. It exemplified the power of sports in bringing diverse communities together and promoting mutual respect and appreciation. In the aspect of Graduate Attributes, the event made me enhance my leadership skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills and adaptability.

Self Reflection

As the head of multimedia and publicity for Kabaddi Champ '23, my responsibilities encompassed a wide range of tasks essential to the event's success. The role demanded a high level of creativity, organization, and attention to detail.

One of my primary tasks was to design visually striking posters that effectively conveyed the excitement and essence of Kabaddi Champ '23. I carefully considered layout, color schemes, and imagery to ensure the posters captured the attention of UTM students and nearby schools. The goal was to create eye-catching visuals that would pique curiosity and generate interest in the event.

In addition to poster design, I took charge of creating captivating promotional videos. These videos served as powerful marketing tools, showcasing the exhilarating moments and highlights of Kabaddi Champ '23. Through careful editing, selection of engaging footage, and integration of compelling music or voice overs, I aimed to create videos that would generate buzz and anticipation among the target audience.

Another crucial aspect of my role involved overseeing printing jobs, particularly the production of certificates for the participants. This responsibility required close collaboration with printing services to ensure the certificates were professionally produced and delivered in a timely manner.

Throughout the entire process, I invested a significant amount of time and effort into each aspect of my job. From brainstorming creative concepts to collaborating with team members and incorporating feedback, I strived to create multimedia materials that effectively communicated the spirit and importance of the event.

On a personal level, my role as the head of multimedia and publicity allowed me to further develop and enhance various graduate attribute skills. Leadership skills were honed as I guided and managed a team, ensuring that tasks were delegated effectively and deadlines were met. Effective communication was crucial in conveying the event's message through visual design and promotional videos. Critical thinking skills were continually exercised in creating materials that were both visually appealing and impactful. Moreover, adaptability played a vital role as I navigated through unexpected challenges and changes, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure the success of Kabaddi Champ '23.
