Mini Report
In my capacity as the head of the technical department for CYBERLYMPICS '23, I am delighted to present this concise report, which aims to provide an overview of the event. This includes an explanation of the reasons behind our participation, the emphasized Graduate Attributes, and a detailed description of the activities that were undertaken during the event.
CYBERLYMPICS'23 is an annual sports program organized by PERSAKA to foster a lively and enjoyable atmosphere among students, lecturers, and staff from UTM's Faculty of Computing. With the past three years being held entirely in virtual settings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year presents an opportunity for participants to physically gather, promoting socialization and a healthier lifestyle.
The program features a mix of virtual and physical games, where students from the Faculty of Computing will be divided into four factions, with representatives for each game. Engaging in fun tournaments such as futsal, badminton, frisbees, e-games and relay races, participants will create memorable and distinct experiences for everyone involved.
From the technical department, we were assigned to handle all the bookings of the place for the games, tournament, opening and closing ceremony. I was also responsible in getting the arrangements and seat and also the tent for participants to rest on the field. I am also responsible for all the technical stuff of handling the music system for the rest of the event.
The event has several objectives. Firstly, it aims to contribute to the well-being of students and staff from the Faculty of Computing, promoting a healthier lifestyle in harmony with Sustainable Development Goal. Additionally, by providing leisure and relaxation opportunities, it supports SDG Goal 4, enhancing students' focus and understanding in their studies and academics.
Furthermore, the program offers students the chance to explore business ideas and generate additional income, further enhancing their entrepreneurial skills and aligning with their future aspirations.
Overall, CYBERLYMPICS'23 serves as a platform to strengthen the overall bond within the Faculty of Computing community, spanning across different academic years. Through active participation in the program, students can establish connections, collaborate, and support each other, creating a strong sense of camaraderie.
In summary, CYBERLYMPICS'23 transcends conventional sports events by promoting physical activity, a healthier lifestyle, social connections, entrepreneurial skills, and a stronger sense of community within the Faculty of Computing. It aspires to enrich the lives of participants and create enduring memories that extend beyond the duration of the event itself. I was able to gain many graduate attribute skills such as leadership skills, adaptability skills, communication skills and critical thinking skills.
Self Reflection
As the head of the technical department for CYBERLYMPICS '23, my role encompassed various responsibilities to ensure the smooth execution of the event. One of my primary tasks was to handle all the venue bookings, including the field, hall, and indoor sports hall, to accommodate the different activities and ceremonies. This involved coordinating with the appropriate authorities and securing the necessary permissions.
Additionally, I was responsible for arranging the necessary equipment and facilities for the event. This included booking speakers and a music system to provide the participants with an immersive and energetic atmosphere. I also made arrangements for a tent to be set up on the field, providing a comfortable resting area for the players during the games. Furthermore, I took charge of organizing the seating arrangement, ensuring that chairs and tables were available for the participants and attendees.
The effort put into these tasks was essential to the success of CYBERLYMPICS '23. By handling the logistics and technical aspects of the event, I aimed to provide a conducive environment for the participants to showcase their skills, enjoy the games, and foster a sense of camaraderie within the Faculty of Computing community.
Through my role in the technical department, I not only gained practical experience in event planning and coordination but also developed valuable skills such as leadership, adaptability, and effective communication. These graduate attributes played a crucial role in ensuring the event's success and further enhancing my professional growth.
Overall, my contributions as the head of the technical department were instrumental in creating a memorable and engaging experience for all participants of CYBERLYMPICS '23. The event not only promoted physical activity and a healthier lifestyle but also fostered social connections, entrepreneurial skills, and a strong sense of community within the Faculty of Computing.
