Technology and Information System is a course that introduces us to the basic knowledge of computer technologies. Throughout this course, there are a lot of topics and also some assignments that need to be completed in a group of four people. The assignments include the design thinking process, PC assembly and differentiate cloud computing service providers. Moreover, we also need to attend some industrial talks from expertise to get a wider picture about the working condition in the industries.

DESIGN THINKING

What is design thinking?

Design thinking is a process on how to come out with innovative and creative solutions for problems , especially the one that could benefit our daily life. This is important as it could produce high quality and value products as it needs to be done step-by-steps until we reach our goals. There are five steps in design thinking which are Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test.

There are a lot of things that I learnt throughout this course. Although it is challenging as we cannot meet to complete all the assignments, luckily we made it.

Firstly, the design thinking assignment teaches me a lot on how to solve a problem in a creative way with a proper procedure. Other than that, it also helps me to improve my soft skills especially communication skills since the COVID-19 restricts us to meet face-to-face. Although at first it is hard for me to communicate with the group members since we never meet before, but soon after that, I could handle it as we need to complete the assignments within the time given. Therefore, this challenge gives me a wider view towards more challenging things that could happen after I get my dream job.

Secondly, as a computer science student, it is important for me to know how to build a PC. Although we can't do it practically, by watching some videos we get some overview on it and from that, we proceed with the assignment. However, to understand more, one day, I also need to try it.

Thirdly, the cloud computing assignment require us to differentiate between two different kind of cloud computing service providers. Thus, me and my group members decides to compare between Microsoft Azure and Amazon. From this, I could possibly choose which cloud computing service providers is the best.

Next, aside from assignments, we also need to attend some industrial talks. As now we are looking forward got IR4.0, the talks really benefits me. The experiences' panel encourage me to work hard so that I could cope well in the industry. Lastly, I am sure that this course could help me in the future.
