Report Activity No. 3

It is important that we gain knowledge and experience no matter what field are we in. I am very happy that PERSAKA organise an event like Comp Fair '20 as it has really served as a platform to enhance students’ IT knowledge. The prep talks, workshops and forums were very crucial for our development in the computer science field and has further help us develop graduate attributes.

Through the workshops and Programming Battle, Comp Fair '20 has certainly developed students’ thinking skills. Participants gained programming skills and also problem-solving skills when encountering with difficulties in programming, which is critical as programming is a big part of computer science.

Besides, I have also gained enterprising skills from the talk “Journey from Engineering to Entrepreneurship”. The speakers for the talk are CEO and COO of RunCloud company, their courage to venture into entrepreneurship has really enlighten me as I understand that transitioning to a sector that we are not familiar with is so challenging, not only we need to have good decision-making skills but being innovative, strategic thinking and commercial awareness are all key factors for success.

Through the prep talk “Mental Skills is Important as Other Skills”, I have developed and learned more on adaptability. The industry will always look for flexible and adaptable employees, while it is tough and stressful to deliver the perfect outcome and meet demands from our employer, it is important that we handle stress and emotions, adapt to changes, response to uncertain situations to be successful.

          In conclusion, Comp Fair '20 has benefitted me a lot. Of all the prep talks and forums, the knowledge inputs are promising and have motivated to move forward and challenge myself in the computer science field. I hope that there will be Comp Fairs more often as it is a blessing that we get to share knowledge on various topics.
