My goal concerning this course is to gain knowledge about technology and information system that are continuously growing bigger. After attending this course SECP1513, I have learned that there are various information technology and information system that are used in daily life both at work and at home. I have learned about hardware, software, network, privacy and security, system analysis and design, as well as some programming and languages. The whole course was very interesting and I get to know what kind of engineer is responsible in which sector and which engineer I want to become in the future. To improve my potential in the industry, I think the method would be studying harder and trying to master some of the popular programming languages. Other than that, I will also need to catch up with the current issues and technology. In my opinion, I think this subject contributes to my knowledge in specific area, especially information system and information technology. I have a deeper understanding of all the jobs and its job scope that are offered to computer science students. So, I have a clear direction on choosing my future job. Lastly, I am really glad to have Dr Layla Rasheed Abdallah Hasan as my lecturer for this course SECP1513 in this semester. Dr Layla is very kind and will answer any questions from us that are related to the course. She is also guiding and providing some ideas for us to do our project and assignment until we completed all of it. I truly appreciate Dr Layla as my lecturer. Thank you so much for your time you spent on guiding us and I wish you the best in your future.

Introduction to Data Visualization by Microsoft Power BI

Today is the last industrial talk for this semester. Today’s talk is about Data Visualization using Microsoft Power BI. The speaker for this talk is Mr Isma Redha. From this talk, I realised that Microsoft Power BI is able to visualize data from datasets. This is the first time I interact with this application and it is very interesting to use it. I managed to visualize my dataset using the charts that are offered in Microsoft Power BI to complete my last assigment for SECP1513. There are still a lot of things that I need to learn for me to use Microsoft Power BI in a more efficient way. Mastering Microsoft Power BI will also help me to prove myself in my future career. I will try to explore it during my free time.

5G, WiFi 6 and Emerging Network Technologies

This is the sixth industrial talk that I attend this semester. Today, the talk is about 5G, WiFi 6 and Emerging Network Technologies. We are glad to have Mr Nicholas Yong as the speaker for this topic. Mr Nicholas works as Executive Industry Solution Manager in Huawei for Asia Pacific Region. From the talk, I understand about the difference between 5G and WiFi 6. During the talk, there was also some discussions about the 5G technology in Malaysia. Mr Nicholas believes that 5G will become popular in Malaysia in a few years time since there are some places already starting to use 5G technology in Malaysia, such as Pulau Langkawi. I hope that 5G and WiFi 6 technology can improve the network performance and reduce the latency.

Industrial Talk 5

Emerging Technology on Network Infrastructure

Today is the fifth industrial Talk, its title is “Emerging Technology on Network Infrastructure” by Mr Goh Bih Der, a system engineer of CommScope. I gain a lot of new knowledge from this talk. The main content that was shared with us are Wi-Fi 6, Internet of things, also known as IoT, and Smart Campus. At the end of the talk, I learn about the WiFi and access point, multigigabit technology, Unified Network Management, Internet of Things (IOT) and Cloud Analytics. Other than that, the talk also introduce about Smart Campus to us. Smart campus is a campus that places physical infrastructure on its network infrastructure. It creates situational awareness for new services, lower costs and public safety. Smart campus uses Internet of Things to connect buildings, vehicles, people and things. Smart campus attracts and retains students by combining smart living, smart learning and smart safety to let students to have a greater experience. It is by far the most interesting talk among the few talks that I attend before this.

Current Trends of Augmented Reality in Industry

Today, I attend an industrial talk by Dr Ruzimi Mohamed which is about trends of Augmented Reality in industry. It is an honour to have Dr Ruzimi as the speaker of this talk. From this talk, I realised that Augmented Reality (AR) brought a lot of changes in human life. AR is continuing to transform and evolve in every industry. There is an example where AR is used as a medical education tool. From the video that Dr Ruzimi shows to all the participant in the talk,  AR technology is able to help human to see organs, skeletal and nervous systems by showing overlaying three-dimensional representations human anatomy on a physical body. Not only in the medical industry. AR technology is also being used in education, military and many more industries to help the user to have a more realistic experience. I hope that AR technology can become popular in the future and everyone can afford it.

Amazon Web Services

I attend a talk about Amazon Web Services today. The speaker of the talk is Dr Qusay Al-Maatouk. He introduces about Amazon Web Service to all the participants that attend the talk. After attending the talk, I am very grateful to have Dr Qusay Al-Maatouk as the speaker. I think that it is very important for us to learn about cloud computing. With the transformation of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), cloud computing is playing a very important role in it. Besides that, I am also a generation that will be working in this kind of environment. So, I need to familiarize myself with cloud computing especially Amazon Web Service since it is the largest cloud computing service around the world. We need to know how it works and the types of service that the provider is providing to maximize our productivity and also improve our efficiency in our future career.
