Link to My AWS Badge
Journey of getting the AWS Badge
On 1 January 2022, I finally get my AWS badge. I have completed all the modules and managed to get the badge. It was a really interesting learning process and this is my first time interacting with cloud computing. Before I started the course, I thought cloud computing should be very easy, but it was totally wrong. At the first, everything should be very easy because it is just some introduction to Amazon Web Services, but when I started to do module 4, which is about AWS Cloud Security, everything started to be complicated. I need more time to understand it. The modules after module 4 are also difficult for me to understand in a small amount of time. So, I rewatched those videos to help me get a better idea and understanding of the topic. I start the course on the last few days of October 2021. The method that I use to complete the 10 modules is watching those videos that are prepared for each module before answering the knowledge check at the end of each module. It took me about 2 months time to complete the 10 modules. This is because there are a few weeks that I am busying with my assignments, projects and also tests. Fortunately, I am able to complete the course before the due date. The badge looks very nice to me. It is also a proof that proves me for completing the AWS Cloud Foundation. I am very happy to own this badge.
Reflection
a. After completing the course, I have a better understanding of cloud computing services provided by Amazon. Each module teaches us about different kinds of services. From the course, I have learned about how AWS secure their client, networking between client and the cloud, computing, storage and databases services that are provided by AWS and a lot more. It is hard for me to list everything that I have gained from the course here, but the knowledge and information that I gained is actually more than this.
b. The motivation that motivates me to complete the project is to have some basic knowledge in cloud computing because I am not sure whether I will interact with cloud computing in the future or not. So, it is better for me to have the basics and it will not be hard for me to catch up in the future.
c. In my opinion, getting the badge is not that difficult because I just need to understand the content in each module. The problem in the knowledge check part is also not that hard. I think module 1 should be the easiest module because everything is easy at first and starts to get handy after it. The hardest module for me is module 6 as there are so many services and what it does that I need to remember for the knowledge check in the last part of the module.
d. The badge worth a lot for me as it is proof for me that I have completed the AWS Academy Cloud Foundation. It also improve my potential in the industry in the future.
e. Getting the badge does improve my knowledge and skill on Cloud Computing as I have watched the videos in all of the modules and also read the student guides.
f. In my opinion, I think that it depends on the company whether they want to shift to Cloud Computing or not. It is possible that there are some disadvantages for them if they shift to Cloud Computing.
g. I think every computer science student in UTM should learn Cloud Computing and get the badge. As for other students in UTM, it depends on their interests. If they are interested in it, they can try to learn. It only takes you some time to learn Cloud Computing and you can get a badge.
h. My advice to my friend who have not get the AWS badge is you can try if you are interested. It will improve the potential of them in the industry in the future.
i. After completing the badge, my direction now is to finish my Bachelor Degree and master the programming technique that helps me to become a software engineer in the future. I am also interested to attend some other courses like AWS Cloud foundation that helps me to gain more knowledge. It is very interesting to attend courses like this.
j. Getting the AWS badge that is included in SECP1513 subject is actually very great. If the AWS badge was not included in the subject, I think I will never get to interact with Cloud Computing this earlier. I am really grateful for School of Computing to include this AWS badge in SECP1513.
