Mini Report
Monthly Executive Board and Management Team (EBMT) Review is a monthly routine for all EBMTs to reflect and review on the past month operations in each department in AIESEC in Johor Bahru. In the monthly review meeting, we need to discuss on the November Top 3 Focus and the percentage of completion, the December Top 3 Focus as well as the bottlenecks faced by each department. This also enhance the effectiveness of cross departmental collaboration and synergy. During the review, we were also having roll call session as the check in session which is one of the AIESEC cultures. Other than that, in monthly review, we need to find the way forward together for the bottlenecks we are facing and asking questions to each other so that everyone in our organization can have a clear big picture on the operation.
In November Monthly Review, I was the facilitator for the reporting of my department together with my other colleges as well. I am from the People Management Department in AIESEC in Johor Bahru, so this role required me to have leadership and team working skills with the other EBMTs to manage whole membership in AIESEC in Johor Bahru. Next, to deal with membership issue in certain teams, I also required to have communication skills to discuss and talk with the team leader to understand the issue and need to have a critical thinking skills to figure out the root cause of the membership issue. Lastly, to solve the membership issue or to increase the engagement and connection of memberships towards our organization. We discussed on the initiatives to achieve this target and here need enterprising skills from everyone of us.
Self-reflection
The November Monthly Review provided me more sights on how the other department interconnected and collaborate with each other. This reminded me the importance of communication among the departments will affect the operation and performance of the whole organization. Other than organization, communication is very important in a team where communication acts as the bridge between everyone to form the complete team. Throughout the monthly review meeting, I also able to develop my critical thinking skills as there are a lot of critical thinker and big picture thinker in the organization and I could learn from them by looking into the facts from different perspectives. AIESEC is also an organization that mainly aimed to develop youth leadership skills, that's why I also developed leadership by ensuring both operations and membership as well as the financial of our organization are being taken care. I realized my strength over this activity is be the coach as I always concern on the membership issue. I faced a lot of challenges in the meeting. For example, I was not so sure about the other department operation, so during Q&A session I grabbed the opportunities to ask questions to understand more on them.
