Mini Report

How To Craft Speech Workshop is a program that help us to rebuild our self confident in public speaking. The speakers gave us the chance to speak in front of people. The speakers also shared their experience as the public speaker. I gained a lot of knowledge in how to relax myself when talking in front of the people, and how to become a good public speaker.

The first speaker, Eileen Lee had shared about the talk of why public speaking. Eileen Lee said that, raised up your hand is the start for you to speak. You raised your hand up because you do not understand a things or you want more elaboration, hence you started a communication with others. She also said that, the nervous will be there, no matter how many years you have speak in front of the people, still be nervous. The reason of nervous and afraid to speak is because of the jugdement by others and make mistakes while speaking. However, we need to try.

The second speaker, Dr. Nor Ain Husein. Her topic is Am I Good Speaker. There are some steps for us to start a public speaking. First, we need to organize the thoughts. We may have many thoughts and things to share. Hence, organize our thoughts ensure we have share the things to others without mess up. Then, after organizing the thoughts, just share it. The third step is get the feedback from others. The feedback help us to improve ourselves in speaking. The last step is always know your purpose. Why are we choosing this topic and what should I share of this topic.

Before the end of the program, the organizer gave us a chance to do the debate of "What is your favourite pet? Why?".

Self Reflection

The impact of this program towards the communication skill is that how can we pass the information to people effectively. According to the speaker, we have a lot of ideas in our mind, but sometimes we are unable to share it. This is because we do not organise our thoughts properly. Hence, in order to have a effective communication, we need to analyse our ideas and make it to be more simple and more understandable, so that the listeners able to understand the information that we have shared. Besides that, non verbally communication skill is important when public speaking because it helps people have a better understanding of the overall situation.

Next, the impact of this program towards thinking skill is that how we can explain and review our efforts in public speaking. Thinking skills can be improved by always knowing our purpose to give a speech, what information should be shared and what information should not be shared. Even is the same topic, but there are different contents and information can be shared based on our audience. Hence, we need to make the assumptions of our audience, analyze the point of views and know the implications.
