Mini Report
Malam Kebudayaan dan Pesta Tanglung 2021 is an event organized by Pesta Tanglung University Teknologi Malaysia, which is also called as PTUTM in short. This event is actually organized by PTUTM annually with the aims to preserve the Chinese culture by celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, among different races of students in the university. As a first-year student in 2021, I have enough free time to participate in the event and become a biro, especially when the event is held online. I have been assigned as to the games department where we build a virtual world to celebrate the Mooncake Festival inside a video game called Minecraft.
There are a lot of graduate attributes skill involved in this event, such as communication skills, thinking skills and leadership and teamworking skills. As a biro, helping the games department to build the virtual world inside a video game requires me to communicate a lot. We all have to communicate and report our progress to the leader of games department. Other than that, thinking skill is also involved as we are assigned in a smaller group, and each of the group need to use owns creativity to create a game inside the virtual world of Minecraft for the participants to play. Not only that, leadership and teamworking skill is also used when each biros need to work together and have a same direction when creating a game for the participants.
Self-Reflection
There are a lot of knowledge that I have learnt from this event, especially the knowledge that I would not have learnt if I just joined as a participant. I improved my communication skills from this event and met a lot of great people. They help me to improve my courage to speak to the people that we first met. Building a game inside a virtual world of a video game requires a lot of thinking skills. A lot of creativity involved to make a game with the purpose of entertains the participants. I'm quite happy with the results as I remembered most of the participants are enjoying the game. Other than that, I have improved my teamworking skills especially when I have to cooperate with other biros when building the virtual world. Being leaded by the leader of games department helps me to understand what it takes to be a leader.
One of the challenges I have faced during this event is that I have been assigned to a small group where all of them are strangers to me. It is quite hard for me to communicate with them at first because of my communication skills, but after weeks of working together, I felt that I have improved my communication skills as well as teamworking skills. Overall, I have a very good experience with this event. This event will be part of the good memories during my first year as a UTM student.
