About me
Hi, everyone. My name is Chong Kwei Yan and others will call me Chong. I am 21 years old and Aries girl. I came from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan which is a great and peace city in Malaysia.
I am one of the first year students who is studying in University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and taking the course of Bachelor of Management (Technology).
I feel very appreciate and pleasure because can have a chance to study at UTM. This is because UTM is the top 5 research university in Malaysia and MOT also is one of my favourite course. I am a patient person that I can spend more time when doing the task or work. But, I also is a punctual person, because it can give a good impression to others.

PROGRAM KEMBARA STEM BERSAMA ANAK-ANAK YATIM BAITUL
On the 7th December 2019, we had the programme of “Program Kembara STEM Bersama Anak-anak Yatim Baitul” with our classmates and lecturer, Dr. Marlina. On that day, at around 8.00 am, we have an assembly at the Kolej 9 bus stop and we waited for the bus. After 20 minutes, we arrived the destination and walked into the orphanage home. When we arrived there, the principal of the orphanage came out to welcome us. Then, she invited us to visit their home and let us to sit down on the mat. A kid came to say hello and please with us. She is a polite and silent girl. After that, Afiqah, the person who in charge this programme explained with us about the instructions and the rules of this programme. They divided us to two groups. The first group was to teach and take care the children under 4 years old, the other group was to teach and take care the children between 14-17 years old.
At the group of children under 4 years old, we also divided to different groups. Each group had three students, they need to in charge to take care the safety of children and talks with them. It helped them not to felt lonely and homeless because they are orphans. Firstly, we let them to choose the students and group members that they liked, then, we bring them to our group and talked with them. We organized some games and played with them. For examples, games like puzzles, drawings and sing song with them. We had four cute children in our group. We teach them how to play a completed puzzle, and filled up the colours of the pictures that given by Afiqah. Little kids are focused on playing puzzles and colouring the pictures. We also teach them to sing a song.
After that, while finishing the task on teaching children, we go outside and helped them to make necklaces and bracelets. The others students prepared to do the egg sandwiches for orphans. After 15 minutes, they finished to do the sandwiches and gave sandwiches to everyone who was presented on that day. Then, they also gave the cupcakes and cakes to every children. The friends of Dr Marlina also gave the little bears to the childrens. They were very happy. I felt very happy when I see them innocent and sensible although they still young. It was a best experience and memories for me no matter how many years later.
Reflection Regarding the Talk Entitled: OPPORTUNITIES and STRATEGIES in CRISIS
On 12 May 2020, we start our IT Business online class by attending Opportunities and Strategies webinar. Captain Cyrano Latiff is the person that who gave us talk. He is 37 years old and was a first officer and the one of the three pilots in the cockpit of SQ006, Boeing 742-412 jet that crashed on a fateful rainy night at Taiwan’s Chiang Kai-Shek airport on 31 October, 2000. He also had 2,442 total flight hours including 552 hours on Boeing 747-400.
The reflection after this talk by Captain Latiff is he has many working experience as a pilot. He shared his experience with us. Bad weather was the main problem in this case. This is because when the detection of pre-crisis is China Airline aircraft took off successfully 15 minutes before the crush. It was confirmed by the SIA that the cross wind at that time was more than 15 knots. However, SIA was well-prepared because they learnt from the crash of a SilkAir that due to the pilot’s psychological traumas. This is prevention of crisis management. Then, he rushed to Taipei as a CEO after the news of the SIA crash. He also had a meeting to supervise the crisis plan and became the spokesperson to correct wrong information release by the press. The stage of containment in this talk was helped survivors and relative by giving medical cares and others. It also responsive by flying trauma counsellors to assist survivors. Besides, they also install a better system on their aircraft to help pilot identify runways as the stage of recovery. So, the company order new shoes for the cabin crews to replace the sandals that they used to wear.
There are the ways that how Captain Cyrano deliver his bad-news messages. They need to choose the right mix of channels . For example, he choose to share his messages in person in front of a packed room at Symposium in Las Vegas. Then, he also delivered the bad news in a timely manner for the first time after five years of the accident. Thirdly, Captain Cyrano also expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident during his shared at Symposium in Las Vegas. He also is the compete, caring, character person. Lastly, I want to say thank you to Captain Cyrano because he share his previous experience and time with us.
