Mini Report

Jazari Robotic Workshops 2019 is held at the Jazari Innovation Club room located at P02, Faculty of Electrical Engineering UTM. I participated in this workshop because I want to get started in robotics. Because there are so many different Robotics tutorials for beginners on the Internet, it is very confusing to me which tutorial I should use. So, this workshop is a perfect solution for my problem because this workshop was intended for beginners in robotic. The Graduate Attribute focused on this workshop is the Scholarship attribute because I learn many new knowledge. This workshop begins with Introduction to Jazari club. We learn the objective of this workshop and workshop syllabus. After that, we start with robot’s mechanism module. In this module, I learn how the robots move, what components that we need and how these components help the robots to achieve their target. For example, how DC motor and wheel help the robot move. In the second module, I learn about robot’s electronics which is the ‘brain’ of robots. I learn about Arduino electronic board and other necessary electronic components to build robots. In the third module, I learn about robot’s basics programming, which uses The Arduino IDE to write the code before we upload it to the Arduino board. After that, every participant gets their robotic kit to build their robots

Self-reflection

The new knowledge that I learnt in this workshop help me develop an inquisitive mind that eager to learn. All the module in this workshop gives me knowledge of other fields. For example, for the first module, I learn many mechanical concepts about robot structure, like how to balance our robots and how to make our robot move faster. I learned the new electronic concept in the second module, like how the Arduino board is created and its function. In the third module, I learn how to code the Arduino programming language in the computing field. Lastly, I can apply all this knowledge with my new robotic kit. My advantage towards the workshop is that I have experience in using C++ language similar to Arduino IDE. So, the learning process in the robot’s basic programming run smoothly. The challenge that I faced is robotic mechanics, which is how to turn the robot car with only three wheels to the left and right. After discussing with other participants, the solution that I find is to stop the right wheel to turn right and vice versa.
