Program Description: The debater training activities are designed to enhance or reinforce the debating skills of the debaters. In addition to theoretical classes, debaters also need to apply the knowledge they have learned in practical combat. Through debater training, the goal is for debaters to be able to quickly counter the opponent's arguments and continue to expand upon their own points to persuade the audience. This training also involves active coaching and guidance from coaches, with corrections made to address each debater's specific issues.

As the Vice Director of the UTM Chinese Debate Team, I have a responsibility to nurture new debaters and introduce more people to the enjoyable world of debating.
Our primary focus in developing graduate attributes lies in teaching participants to collaborate effectively in a short timeframe, find relevant and useful information, and employ defensive and offensive skills on the debate stage.
The activity involves a one-minute preparation period to outline our arguments, followed by a two-minute presentation of our viewpoints. The rest of the team is responsible for recording and engaging in a questioning phase, where we collectively work on attacking and defending our positions.
As a new leader, I have been learning how to teach all the basic skills to new debaters in the easiest and fastest way possible. Before taking on this role, I was worried that I might not have the ability to lead 12 debaters. I worry that they might not understand what I'm trying to say or that I don't know how to answer their questions. However, with the help of friends and experienced seniors, I gradually gained a foothold. Unknowingly, my leadership skills and sense of responsibility were gradually established.
This event taught me that I don’t have to face problems alone; I can ask for help from my teammates, and the feeling of being part of a team is very satisfying. When you have a support team, all major issues can be resolved. In this teaching process, I also learned a lot. Before leading a training session, I need to review the materials in advance, find suitable training activities, and test them repeatedly to ensure their effectiveness. Although this process was a bit stressful, it was still very meaningful to see everyone's serious and positive speeches.
