MERAK'19 - Malam Anugerah Kolej Tun Dr Ismail 2019
MERAK'19 is an annual dinner event for Kolej Tun Dr Ismail, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The theme is 'GLITZ AND GLAM' for the 2018/2019 session. The main objective of this program is to inculcate good values such as affection, help in one another and unity in each resident of Kolej Tun Dr Ismail. The hope for this program is it will tighten the bond between students in KTDI, give new experience to them and encourage them to contribute and love our college.

Position/Role
I am a committee member for this MERAK'19 program which is under a protocol unit. The responsibility that I should hold before and throughout the entire program was preparing the scripts for the VVIP, VIP and the emcees. Plus, prepare the tentative's program and make sure the flow of the program run smoothly. Handle and taking care of the award receiver during the program.
Mini Report
This is the first programme I join as a committee member with a huge role and responsibility as a first-timer which is why this MERAK’19 give a lot of meaning to me. At first, I join this programme for the sake of ‘principal quota’ so that I can secure a room at Kolej Tun Dr Ismail. And soon I realize I learn something valuable, gain fascinating experience and meeting new faces. It is something that I could not get in an indoor class. Gain a new experience was the reason I gave during the interview of member recruitment and that goal is achieved.
Adaptability was the Graduate Attributes that are related to the activities conducted by this programme.
This is an annual dinner event for KTDI. It takes a lot of preparation and decision making to conduct this programme. Preparation activities that we did are planning a tentative, booking hotel, guest invitation, student invitation, booking buses, seek performance, listing award receiver, buying gift etc. During the day of the event, decorates the hall, checking the pa system, handle guest and student registration. This is part of the activities that have done and there is a lot more, but I listed only the main task.
Self-reflection
Improve in adaptability since to conduct this programme I need to communicate with another crew and the committee which I rarely know to discuss the event matter so I need to adapt to the situation. And working with new friends and being the first-timer in handling such a huge dinner need a quick adaption so the teamwork will be naturally perfect.
There is a lot of advantages to join this programme. It forms me to become a student of one package of all aspects in terms of personality, leadership and knows how to manage the organization effectively. It also helps me to boost my confidence in taking a bigger role in the future.
The challenges face throughout the program when the number of people wants to join is exceeded the target which is 200 pax. In the end, with the consult of principal and event advisor, we open the registration to all people and receive about 400 people registered to join the annual dinner and we need to book 6 buses for the students.
