Self Reflection

Overall the whole program helped me a lot in terms of managing a program. Because KESUMA is a Top Bidder program, there is so much that needs to be researched and refined in order for the program to run smoothly. Despite the obstacles and challenges of managing this program, program committee members never admit to losing it. Commitment among committee members is very important in this program. The program's top councils have done their best including site visits and have some discussion with the MCG and the villagers there. The future organization of KESUMA is encouraged to train Students and students to develop a good teamwork to promote the program. These community-based and volunteer-based programs need to be held regularly to educate students about the meaning of real life.

Mini Report

KESUMA is a volunteering program conducted by Persatuan Mahasiswa Islam UTM collaborate with Malaysia Care Global (MCG). This program was proposed to help the community in Batam and Desa Niur Permai, Indonesia. This year is the second time KESUMA has organized. The first time was organized in 2018 in Vietnam.  KESUMA  is also one of the top bidder programs. Thus, it needs a lot of work to do.

In short, in Desa Niur Permai we do more community service there, while in Batam, our activities are more of a visit. In Desa Niur Permai we live in a madrasah located on an island. In fact the village itself is one of the villages in that island. There we help the madrasah by giving donations to build the mosque for the madrasah. We have also done motivational programs at a primary school there as well as madrasah students. We were also taken by villagers on a tour of the island with a motorcycle. We also make donations in the form of basic needs called "Sembako" to the less fortunate people there.

In Batam we live in Quran Center, Sekupang, Batam City. During our stay in Batam, we visited many interesting places besides establishing bilateral relations between Batam Muslim Polytechnic Students Association and PMI UTM. Among the interesting places we visit are Barelang Bridge, Batam Grand Mosque, Batam uptown, Sultan Mahmud Riayat Syah Mosque, and Batam Center.
