Leadership & Spiritual

  1. Mini Report

Journey of Daie or JOD is annual program that been organized by Persatuan Mahasiwa Islam UTM. It is conducted to train participants to be a good daie in life especially in UTM. It also to help participants to build leadership skills. JOD is a two days camp that located in Nurfa Farm, Pontian, Johor. In total of 20 student and 10 facilitator that participate in the program. At the end of the program, the facilitator will assigned a project that to be conduct by the participant as a resolution of the program.

The camp started with MABIT which is "Malam Bina Iman Dan Takwa" at KRP's Musolla. The activities in MABIT is Surah Yasin recitation and USRAH. MABIT start from 9pm until 11pm. The next morning, we perform Qiamullail at 5am and after Subuh prayers we move to our camp site which is Nurfa Farm.

Our activities there just listen to a talk that been given by invited speaker. There is five slot of talk during the program. The talk are not only just talk but it is a lesson about Islam, Dakwah and Daie. For each slot of talk we will be given a note about the topic and after each talk will be ask from the facilitator to share what we got. Simply say our non talk activities will be based on what we learn on the talk. The reason is the facilitator want us to remember the main point of each talk.

Among the activity that challenging is when we need to go outside campsite and approach all villagers there. Each and everyone of participants must give a talk to at least 2 villagers there. There also a pamphlet that we need to give about the topic that we want to talk. This activity called Street Dakwah. The talk must be as short as possible. At the end of the program we perform a closing ceremony that organized by the participants.

  2. Self Reflection

Indeed, JOD has taught me a lot about Islam, the Islamic way of life, Islamic organizations, the way of preaching, the law of preaching and more. For me, this program not only aims to produce Daie but it also helps participants in the success of a program and educates the leadership skills to the participants.

Apart from that, I also gain new experiences with activities carried out such as Street Dakwah. Despite feeling nervous to talk to the villagers, but we all still try our best to convey the topic we want to bring. Activities like this for me can increase one's confidence to talk to strangers as well as strengthen the relationship with the villagers there.

The most memorable experience I had was when I was appointed head of the program. Indeed it is not a common thing for me because I have never been a chief as long as I joined any camp. Because for the first time, I was worried if I could not do my job well but thank God I was given good feedback from my own friends and facilitators.

Finally, although this program is considered unsuccessful on behalf of the organizers but for me, this program has been successfully implemented. This is because we are given enough knowledge to be a Daie and a leader. I think the knowledge given we can not get anywhere other than following Usrah and this program.
