My entire résumé

Cover letter

Sir/Madam ,

This letter is to describe all that I have  learned in my life and how I can implement them for the betterment of the world. Since the past 1 year,  I have been learning coding languages painstakingly and I am sure enough to have learned a lot from them. I have excellent skills regarding C++. Along with that, I have creative thinking , problem solving , team working , project management skills. I have had experience managing several projects in my schools and I am looking forward to putting this experience of mine into use.

My hobby is to learn new things off and on and among them learning new programming language is one. This is one of the reasons why I took up Software Engineering as my major. Since my childhood , I have had a habit of solving problems and I would sit hours solving one sum until I have completed it. So, this habit of mine as well as my love for learning new languages and computers attracted me to Software Engineering. I am confident that I will shine in my field by working hard and through perseverance.

Mini Report

Communication skills refer to the ability to effectively convey and receive information and ideas through various channels such as speaking, writing, body language, and listening. Strong communication skills are essential in both personal and professional contexts, as they facilitate understanding, build relationships, and help achieve goals. In this program, communication was a very important attribute, since there are many students who are hesitant about sharing their problems with the mentors it is difficult for them to excel in the program . I went to their of the mentees separately to help them out individually, this some mentee's so dont liking sharing problems infront of the whole crowd I politely asked them their issues and comforted them enough so they ease up with me and share their problems without any hesitation.

I was among the 5 mentors mentoring all the students in the Programming Clinic Program . All we 5 mentors worked as a team to solve all the mentee's problems. If one mentor was having difficulties solving a mentee's problem another mentor would step forward to help them out. This is how we worked hard to solved most of the technical and as well as the coding bugs that we encountered during the event.

During the session where the mentee's are given a project to complete , it was the place to showcase my leadership skills. I asked every mentee I was assign regarding their strong and weak points in coding and divided them their work that way accordingly. I encouraged each one of them when they were having difficulties with the codes. I also helped them handle the bugs in an effective and eventually we came up with our project 2 days before the deadline.

Self-Reflection

This helped me with my communication skills. Since I am an introverted person myself this program was much of a challenge to me . Before going to the program I was hesitant if I should actually attend it since being a mentor was a big responsibility and also I was quite on the edge due to being very nervous and having to do this for the first time in my life. I took a risk and eventually went to the program, at first I had my doubts on how I am going to handle so many students at once but I was eventually able to handle it. In no time I was able to connect to so many students in the hall and I even made many friends along the way .

I listened to the mentee's concerns, ideas, and goals, and provided them with feedback and guidance in a supportive and non-judgmental way. I also offered specific and actionable feedback to help the  mentees improve their skills and performance. I was able to learn a lot from this mentorship since I felt like my C++ coding skills increased as I was the mentor I had to do some research myself. I learned teamworking in an effective way as the program went very well due to the teamwork all the mentors showed and also the teamwork we did as a team to complete the project assigned to us. As far as leadership is concerned, I was able to learn a lot from the program as well since this as my first time guiding students under me and I am very proud to say that I handled it very well. Although our project didnt win the competition I got a lot to take from this program.

Start Up 23

Start Up 23 was an event to showcase the software students their prowess in presenting their software to the stakeholders. I was a competition there group of students compete against each other to impress the stakeholders about their ideas regarding their start up plan

Mini Report

The reason for joining this event was firstly due to the fact it was made compulsory for the faculty to join it but I was able to learn many things from it and I am grateful that the faculty pushed us to join and put efforts to this wonderful event. This event helped me develop many graduate attribute skills of mine. Starting off , It helped me with my teamworking and leadership skills. I was able to work in a group of 4 people , each of us that different mindsets and different person wanted to do different things for the project. Since this event was about showcasing our startup idea regarding a food delivery website we came up everyone was giving their own opinions but eventually we were able to take in everyone's ideas and contemplated and chose the best idea which was finally agreed by everyone , to reach a specific idea we had to bring our heads together and brainstorm to find the best idea which required a lot of team work. Since we needed to create business models each member was responsible for creating each business models. Each one of us checked our parts and helped each other if anyone got stuck on anything. Even though I did not take up the leadership responsibility I was able to learn a lot from the leader of the project like how he encouraged us when we had rifts among the members and how he motivated us.

The next skill I developed was the adaptability skills. Adaptability refers to the ability of an individual or a system to adjust or modify its behavior, approach, or strategy in response to changing circumstances or situations. It is the capacity to adapt and thrive in new or challenging environments, and to make the necessary changes to stay relevant and effective. I was able to adapt to the challenging situations that arrived while building the business model and the website for our project. One of them were, we were no able to finish everything in time so we decided to come up with a shorter business model which included everything but in a zest. Along with that my thinking and enterprise skills also got flourished as I never stood infront of the stakeholders. The stakeholders came up with different unique questions which needed a lot of thinking before answering , it was quite difficult to come up since I never was in that situation. I stakeholders asked about the different features of our system and I was able to answer each one of the features , which even though required a lot of practice but I was able to gain enterprise skills through it.

Self Reflection

All in all it was an amazing experience. I was able to learn so many things in such a few days . Opening up a start up is not something that I dream of doing in the future but I definitely did look forward to knowing how people who has dreams of opening start up start their work from ground level. During the event , I learned about different inspiring stories about how UTM fresh graduates were able to build a start up which blew up and how they are very successful in their fields now, this helped me understand that opening up a start up is not that difficult if we have the zeal for it . We worked immensely hard for winning the competition and I am proud to say that we were able to win the competition among the 16 selected finalists. It was a honorable moment for us since UTM  is a home to amazing students and being announced as the winning team sure did mean a lot to me and my team.Screenshot 2024-04-05 032825.png

Reflection

I have always dreamed about building games but did not know how to proceed with it. As time passed by, my interest into building unique things developed. I started learning different kind of codes and used app to build shorthand games. Eventually, I started to realize that in order to become adept in my game building passion, I had to dig deep into the fields of computer science. As I graduated from my high school, my mind was all set into getting into the computing field to strengthen my skills. So, I joined the faculty of computing (software engineering) in UTM.  Being a top ranked university for science I am quite confident that UTM will teach me everything I need to fulfil my dreams. I want to be adept enough to stand out from everyone in my field. My end goals are to work for a gaming company and gather enough capital to one day start my own game development company.

First of all, in order to survive in the industry, I need to have perseverance. Computer science is all about critical thinking and analyzing so I need to give my all to do something which others could not even think of. Studying in a technical field always engages a person into research. Innovations are very common in this field so I need to be up to date with the latest technology in order to increase my potential in the industry.
