Virtual Culture Corner

I totally believe that the exposure I’ve got from Virtual Culture Corner has developed my interpersonal skills and enhanced my graduate attributes as a whole. Leading a team to prepare for an event in which a short time span requires efficient planning of tasks and resources to be able to complete or achieve them on time. Besides, this experience also got me to interact with various people of different backgrounds. I have learned about the importance of having good communication skills to be able to work effectively with different kinds of people.

As a member of UTM International Global Buddies, I’ve also shown a keen interest to explore other cultures & traditions, thus I didn’t show hesitation when I got the opportunity to have interactions with international students from different countries. My curiosity & interest to continuously learn has greatly motivated me to tackle any kind of challenge, ultimately giving the lots of learning opportunities along the time. Besides, my wish to network with people from different countries also a key advantage I’ve got inside of me to meet new people and network with them eventually during the programme preparation and execution.

The major challenge during the programme was the short preparation period, as we were only provided with 2 weeks of preparation period to entirely plan the event. Thus, we were forced to accelerate our execution by putting in extra hours of our day into the preparation. However, this challenge has helped me to actually plan my time in a much more effective way. Besides, the negotiations with various International Student Societies from time to time were quite time-consuming as I was the only one handling all the different ISS participating in the event. But this experience has greatly boosted my agility on how I could solve conflicts and be able to clearly communicate my thoughts to them.
