In my opinion, the project that we done at Murkim Serkat is connected to our class learning objectives. From the Social Entrepreneurship class, we have learned the role of social entrepreneurship. A social entrepreneur will addresses social problems or needs that are not met by anyone. He or she will launch some idea to make a social change. During the program, we are given a chance to solve the problem faced by the community in Murkim Serkat. The community are unable to manage their information and data very well. Hence, we teach them how to manage their data with the simple filing system. The community in Mukim Serkat reflcet that the method we teached is convenient and effective for them to keep their document. Moreover, we also helped the JARING to plant the mangrove trees to protect their living environment. All the effort that we done is non-profit, but is able to solve the community’s problem. Hence, it definitely fulfill some of the criteria in social entrepreneurship.

Through this project, I have achieved some academic and career goal. For the academic goal persepctive, the project allowed me to apply the knowledge that I learned in the class. We are encouraged to engage with real society and the lectures is not limited to indoor anymore. From the mangrove tree plantation activity, I learned the type of mangrove tree, the method to plant it and the ecosystem. For the career goal perspective, this project has boost up my teamwork spirit. We need to help each other when we sink into the mud. With teamwork, we can complete our mission very fast and efficient. Besides that, I have learned to never give up when facing trouble. Many of us include me never step into the mud and planting the mangrove tree before. Hence, we faced trouble to move and plant the mangrove tree. But we are never give up and finally we accomplish our mission to plant 30 mangrove trees per person. The teamwork and never give up spirit are the most important value in the future career life.

This project enhances me to learn the knowledge not only from the lectures in class, but also from the community. We have learned from the real situation and problems faced by the community. This allowed us to think some new ideas from a different perspectives and based on real situation. In my opinion, a good quality of student and education is basically not focus on how well the students answer the exam paper. It is evaluate from how the students apply the knowledge learned in the real life and this project has enables us to do that.
