About Me
Hi, my name is Salem Omar Bamatraf, I am from Hadramout, Yemen, and I am 23 years old. I studied my primary and secondary school in Yemen. Now, I am in Malaysia to complete my study. I am 3rd year student in chemical engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. I am going to graduate on July 2013. I am a student who likes to be active in all what he is doing no matter it is small or big. I like challenging environment and always search for adventures wherever it is, because that is the only way you be more mature and problematic solver. I like to discover new things and learn others cultures. I love to learn different languages because I believe that, the language reflects others beliefs, costumes and cultures. It gives the opportunity to understand the others and communicate with them affectively.

Final year project
This semester, I am doing my final year project 1, which is about removal of heavy metals from wastewater by using ion exchange resin in packed bed column. This project is very important to me because it is the first step in the way to achieve my career dream which is having my own recycling company. These figures shows the schematic diagram of ion-exchange columns.
ABSTRACT:
Removal of Copper (II) and Cadmium (II) from wastewater will be investigated. The experimental investigation will be conducted by using ion exchange resin AMBERLITE 200 in fixed bed column system. The experiments will evaluate the effect of essential parameters such as bed height (3-5cm), initial concentration (5-20 mg/l), and flow rate (15-25 ml/min). Before running the column experiment, batch experiment will be carried out to find the optimum pH value of solution. To obtain the adsorption efficiency for the removal process of Cu (II) and Cd (II), the breakthrough will be constructed. In addition, the measurement of the effectiveness of the ion exchange resin to remove copper and cadmium ions from the synthetic wastewater will be done by calculating the distribution coefficient.
