GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES FROM THE EVENT - THINKING SKILLS

1) MINI REPORT

This Speed Typing Competition is a competition where the participants compete to see who has the highest count of WPM (words per minute) where that will be determined by typing random words that are provided by the website in under one minute. This competition tests our thinking skills where we have to determine how to type the most fastest way without misspelling the words as that will reduce the marks. The competition will make us think and develop ways to have the highest WPM to be top 10 winners of the competition. For instance, I learned that I would help me type faster if I remember the words that are shown. Therefore, while trying to type for the first few tries, I also tried to remember the words to help me in typing faster. This competition helped us to be proactive, trying to search for new approach and ways to type the fastest to be the top 10 with highest WPM and win. Therefore, it definitely helped me in enhancing my thinking skills.

2) SELF REFLECTION

At first, I joined the competition just to fill up my free time as it was held on an evening where I don't have any class at the time. I have always known that I am a fast typer, however I do not know the level of my typing speed as I have never tested it or played any games regarding that therefore I was interested in joining the speed typing competition to test my typing speed. The game was held from 2pm - 5 pm. Anyone can join and play the game as long as they finish before 5 pm. At the start of the game, I was leading the ranking, being in the first place with WPM 88. However as the time goes by, I was beaten by other participants and my ranking went down from time to time. I went down to the fifth place and by 4 pm, I was ranked at the 9th place. The organizer of the competition mentioned that the top 10 winners of the competition will receive an e-certificate and cash prize. Therefore, not wanting to be beaten out from the top 10 winners, I tried again and again to get type faster and get higher WPM but I still couldn't do better than my highest score which is 92. I tried new ways and new method to beat my score and the score of the person ranked above me but I still didn't managed to beat it. By 4.20 pm, I was beaten out from the top 10 by other participants. However, I didn't give up and still tried until the game is closed. Even though I didn't win, I had fun joining the competition as my friends and I all tried to beat each others' marks. We had fun and learned a lot of new things and skills while joining the competition. At the very last minute, the organizer of the game announced that they added a few special prize for the top 5 contestants who played the most time. As it turns out, I was one of them. Therefore I received an e-gift certificate of Tealive worth rm10. Although I am not in the top 10 winner of the competition, I still won something from the competition. As a conclusion, never give up because you will never know what's coming to you.
