Graduate Attributes

In this activity, I did learn many graduate attributes that I did feel comfortable with and I will talk about each one n the following part.

1. Communication Skills:

The speaker mentioned the importance of making strong connections with people in your work field. The communication skills in this activity can be summed by saying that I did get benefited by a great deal by communicating with many people with various backgrounds.

2. Thinking Skills:

Brainstorming for future ideas took a part in the event. Speaker and moderator used to ask participants many questions to expand the main idea from the event.

3. Scholarship:

This event did provide some information about how to be entrepreneur or an owner of a well known startup.

4. Leadership and Teamworking Skills:

Making a team to organize a startup was one of the main parts in the event, it used to show how should the team handle problems and deal with each others.

5. Adaptability:

In the event they spoke about Covid 19 period and why we need to work or study from every where.

6. Global Citizen:

I did feel that the most since I am mainly from Egypt and I do live in Saudi Arabia right now. So with that in mind, you can see that I felt that I need to participate as a global citizen during this event with other local and international participants.

7. Enterprising Skills:

When it comes to enterprising skills, clearly I can say that I did see how the participants are passionate about the ideas and do give it their time and energy.

Position / Role in the Activities

Mini Report

On 21st March, AIESEC organized a talk between Marcus Tiong as a moderator, and he is a junior mechanical student while Mr speaker is Mrs. Isabell Zubinsha Melvin who is an innovation specialist at Maxis. Moderator starts with greeting the attendees and introducing the speaker who shared her experience in several sustainable projects in Malaysia to encourage students to look forward and to improve Malaysian community life. The talk concentrate on the positivity that will turn students from normal people to people who used to improve their capabilities day by day. Mrs. speaker spoke about sustainable development goals especially number 8 which is decent work & economic growth. The speaker advised attendees to be open-minded to solutions and to realize the problem in different ways to come up with the most appropriate solution. Environmental issues related to social innovations took a place during the event to differentiate between issues that happened in new start-ups, non-profit, governmental or corporate organizations.

Reflection

AIESEC used to organize wonderful events with special experts in different fields. Like other events, this one was unique and powerful since its topic was about entrepreneurship and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The speaker is a specialist in a company, he spoke about SDGs which was a new topic for me back then. It was pretty impressive to take 17 goals to improve human life in the 21st century. The speaker was very prepared and well-organized, however, the moderator didn't ask the speaker, she left the questions to Q&A session. SDGs are about education, healthcare, safety, equality, and so on, they took a part during the session but mainly with entrepreneurship-related topics. Environmental issues related to social innovations took a place during the event to differentiate between issues that happened in new start-ups, non-profit, governmental, or corporate organizations. The event was impressive and helpful for UTM students and attendees.
