Code on Weekend: Python (Excel Activity)

1) Self-Reflection:

During this program, we learned the basics of python programming. My roles in this program are both as a participant and as a technical crew.

a. Participant role:

As a participant, I engaged myself in learning the basics of Python Programming. For me, this is a crucial step, especially for beginners, as Python is a versatile and widely used language. At least, the first step I took was to expose myself to Python before I get to understand it deeper.

I have heard that python was an easy language. Indeed, I was surprised on how simplified it was and I get to understand why it is getting popular especially for data science where handling a lot of data is already as complicated, so python is going to help a lot.

b. Technical crew role:

As a technical crew member, I took the responsibility for various technical aspects such as managing the sound system which is essential for smooth communication during the event. Other than that, my team members and I also handled the slides for the learning purpose to help the mentor conveying the related knowledge on the programming.

Participating in the "Code on Weekend: Python" workshop allows me to gain crucial skills. Effective communication ensured smooth technical handling and participant engagement, which enhances the overall learning experience. Handling technical challenges allow me and my team to improve our problem-solving abilities, in order to keep the workshop on track.

Other than that, I learned that being adaptable was crucial for overcoming unexpected issues without causing disruptions. Overall, the workshop not only expanded our Python programming knowledge but also sharpened essential skills in technology, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability, which are essential for effective teaching and learning.

2) Mini Report:

Justification for Participation:
Enrolling in the "Code on Weekend: Python" workshop was motivated by its promise to enhance foundational Python programming skills. Python is recognized for its versatility, particularly in data science and automation, crucial for future career prospects in technology-driven fields.

Associated Graduate Attributes:
The workshop developed some relevant skills, both to the academic and professional fields. Communication skills were enhanced by interacting with other participants and through their collaboration on technical activities. This created an environment more conducive to learning. Problem-solving skills were also enhanced through the quickly addressed technical problems that enabled the smooth running of the workshop. Adaptability and resilience were demonstrated in making sure that any eventual challenges noted in the learning activities were handled.

Content of the Activities:
The workshop covered fundamental aspects of Python programming, including syntax, variables, loops, and functions. Practical sessions provided opportunities for applying acquired knowledge through quizzes and challenges. Technical crew responsibilities involved experiential learning in event logistics management, enhancing organizational and teamwork skills.

Conclusion:
The workshop "Code on Weekend: Python" deepened the understanding of Python programming and fostered graduate attributes relevant to critical thinking. Other than technical skills, the workshop provided experience in effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability essential in enhancing the possibility of further academic and professional success. This not only built confidence in using Python but also equipped students with these very valuable abilities of working in teams and in problem-solving so they might benefit from this throughout their studies and work.
