Reflection For Cool Code

During the visit to CoolCode Sdn.Bhd, we have been given a talk from the CEO of the company which is En. Ariff Tukiman, also as the founder. There are a lot of moment time that he shared to us for him to build up the company such as in struggle, the cost to starting the company, the client and so on. From that, there are not only several but a gigantic and big motivation that we gained from the talk. First and foremost, there must be a hard time in our life. The way that we can do is never easily give up on everything we do.The moment that En Ariff give the talk, he said a lot of trouble and difficulty that he faces but he never giving up for himself because he know its only his opportunities to success. For us,in order to achieve what we want maybe can not be easily be granted but to continuing doing it will strive us to a bigger vision. For example, if someone want to start an online business with no money at all, he or she can make it up by doing a dropship for saving. The point is there are a various way someone can do but never give up on ourself is very important thing. Next, we should be a determined person. In our mission, we should be determine to get what we dream of. From En Ariff, he said to never listen up of what people saying such as in negative that we cannot do. For example, for his to start the company to build an application, there are people that do not encourage him because to build an application is the hard thing to do. The way that he do is he never listen to them and determined for himself. He receive achievement for the successful of his company get then. The main point is we must have quite a strong desire to make something reality. We will never achieve anything on our life if we just follow the negative things of what people say. Other than that, we have to be a focused person. If we are really a focused person, we know what to do first, we will never waste our time and energy for something else. We also have a clear picture of where we are doing. For example, on doing homework , assignments and project. We can submit our homework on the due date that lecturer give if we start to plan to settle all of it at the early time. Then, we also must to set up a structured path for our objective. For example, to get a higher pointer on exam. We have to focus to get a better understanding on some subject that we learn. Last but not least, if we want to achieve the victory in life we have to plan for future and community. So,from that we can have a bigger vision on what we are doing. For example, En Ariff and the team make an application that can bring benefits for the community. They serve themselves to make applications that suitable for community especially learning on kids. From that, I learned that planning for future that including benefit for community is one of the way that we can devoted ourself for the country.

Reflection for CICT

PUSAT TEKNOLOGI MAKLUMAT & KOMUNIKASI.jpg

The CICT have contributed a lot to community especially to UTM. The CICT play a big role as support unit that offers and deliver ICT services for UTM staffs and students.

The visit to CICT has exposed us more about the careers in ICT field. It was a great learning experience and we are motivated to build new career for example cloud engineer, IoT engineer and many which we maybe not discover yet.

My goal is I want to keep improving the technologies for the conveniences of the mankind. I am from SCSJ program are not aiming to become software engineer only but we may create my own career in the future which will meet the needs of mankind and bring a lot of good impact on both human and Mother Nature.

I will update and enhance our skills through joining competition that involves technical skills and critical thinking, joining workshop that related to ICT and analyze the needs of human.

In conclusion, the visits surely motivated us to improve the potential of achieving our future goals, the visits made us realized that there is always a room for improvement in everything such as the evolution of computer and other hardware.

The life cycle of motivation is very short. The dictionary meaning of the word ‘motivation‘ is amusing: venerable Oxford dictionary defines it as a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way. Making sure your goals are achievable is just as important as anything else. There's no point setting a perfect goal if it's unachievable, as you'll fail before you start. E.g. "become a better developer" vs "become the best developer in the world". This also applies to the other areas of SMART, for example: "get 100% code coverage" is specific, but probably not achievable and "get from 50% to 80% coverage by the end of the week" probably isn't an achievable timeframe for a 100k line codebase.

While talking about Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (MaGICX), they aspires to create an environment that contributes toward talent development, industry promotion, knowledge-sharing, and international collaboration, MaGICX’s credits include projects related to augmented reality, mixed and virtual environment, image processing, computer vision, multimedia software engineering, medical computing, computer interaction, human interface, usability, animation and technology, speech and signal processing, visualization, multimedia and software innovation, and emerging technology.

Their vision is -“To be the anchor for Games and Gamification industry & the nucleus for Iskandar Malaysia Innovation Valley”. For a student of computer science specially from the software developing sector it should be the main motto to be a good developer, from the visit to  MagicX I , personally got understand the difference between gaming and gamification, here Gamification means “anything digital production” so being a software developer it can be my tagline for better future.

Another point can be mentioned is that steadiness, they started their journey on 2013 though got successfully recognition on 2016 at the anniversary of Iskandar Malaysia, so they definitely gives a point of perseverance in my life. Summing up it can be said “success doesn’t come overnight” .

I am so amazed by how this company trying to innovate things by developing apps and system that different than others. They are implementing the element of gamification on each of their product. And most of their product using kinect interface which rather than use a remote control or screen touch to interact, they are using movement like hand gesture. Which make things much more interesting.

Education is changing right now. Technology and expanded knowledge of the learning process have already resulted in a metamorphosis of the classroom and of teaching methods. There will be even more changes in the future. One of their project is classroom of the future. Where they wanted to create a classroom that fully technological. Since we are moving into industrial 4.0. Education is no exception.

They also have a lot of other project, such as augmented reality, mixed and virtual environment, image processing, computer vision, multimedia software engineering, medical computing, computer interaction, human interface, usability, animation and technology, speech and signal processing, visualization, multimedia and software innovation, and emerging technology.

From this visit, i learn that the important of us to adapt in fast moving of technologies is very crucial. Industrial 4.0, Education 4.0, University 4.0, everything is evolve. I ascomputer science student especially, need to be more aware of this situation. There is a lot of opportunities in the future.

Reflection for Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB)

Johor_Bahru_City_Council.JPG

INFORMATION GAIN FROM THE VISIT AND THE IMPACT TO STUDENT (MBJB)

From the last industrial visit to MBJB (Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru) there are a lot of things that I learn. For example, before this I thought a single organization only operate via one department only.

While actually, in an organization. There are many department and specialize that involve. For example in context of MBJB. For ICT department, there are other subs department under them. Such as cyber security department, apps development department, multimedia and graphic department and etc. all of this department are working under the same roof to achieve one goals. Even though there are working under the same roof, each of this department has their own role and responsibilities to do.

From this visit, I learn that requirement of soft skills in working environment is very crucial. In working environment, I need to cooperate and working together with a lot of people. And this people not just come from the same background of studies. Most of them come from difference background of studies. Thus, soft skills and the way I interact with them is very important in order to avoid misunderstanding.

Basically, when we enter the working environment, the way I see things will be different. And after this visit, I know that CGPA is not everything. It still important, but if it is not tally with other skills such as soft skills.

Goal means something that is observable and measurable and has an end result on objectives to be achieved within a more or less fixed timeframe , so being a student from IT sector it is very much needed to learn about your future work and stuff. From a place that handles all the city stuffs and goods , it will be best option to gain that knowledge . when you develop an app that configures the traffic movement or the vehicles detection, for instance which number plate belongs to which vehicle and right now where it is something like tracker app. There are thousands of ideas you can get from this place as it has lot of sectors and as we living in an era of digitalisation , so it is like a place full ideas and knowledge for me.

Giving plan to improve a place which have already earned an enormous position .  It’s critically important that those experiences be good ones, so people walk away feeling like, ‘Hey, I’m getting great service. My government actually gets what I need and it’s helping me get there.’”. still I can suggest few things that can be core of any council -

Plans can be taken to improve

  • Action One: Look for targets of opportunity
  • Action Two: Build capacity Executive Summary 7 Using Innovation and Technology to  Improve City Services .
  • Action Three: Seek internal and external champions .
  • Action Four: Develop a compelling business case .
  • Action Five: Formalize new practices with concrete laws and strategies .
  • Action Six: Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration
