1) Mini Report:
On March 31, 2022, to April 2, 2022, the Total Outdoor Camp (TOC) 2022 program was successfully conducted by SRC. This program is organized to reveal outdoor activities and survival skills to TOC participants who are made up of SRC members. This program was conducted for three days and there were 19 participants participated in this program. There are 5 main activities carried out in the TOC program which are camping, cycling, night walking, wall climbing and kayaking.
The first day of the program started by gathering all the participants at the Arked Angkasa, UTM. When all the participants arrived, they were moved to the Hutan Rekreasi, UTM. An ice-breaking session was held between the participants and the committee. Participants were briefed on the entire program journey. After that, the participants will finish the Maghrib prayer and cook dinner together with their group. A night walk session is conducted where each participant has to walk alone through the forest path that has been prepared and supervised by the program committee.
The second day started with the preparation of breakfast by each group. Next, everyone will depart to TMIYC by bus for the wall climbing activity. Participants are taught the equipment and types of wall climbing. They are also taught the correct 'wall climbing' technique. Participants were given the opportunity to try 'bouldering' and 'top rope' climbing.
At 12 pm, everyone will move back to the Hutan Rekreasi to get ready to do 2 activities, which are offroad mountain bike and 'Campsite Setup'. At the offroad mountain bike session, the Activity Committee taught how to repair a leaky bicycle tire and participants were given the opportunity to try cycling down a steep road. 'Campsite Setup' is an activity where the Activity Committee explains how to install a 'flysheet' for shelter.
The third day, which is the last day of the program, begins with the preparation of breakfast. After that, everyone will move to Tasik Ilmu for kayaking activities. Instructors provide information about kayaking such as how to row, how to operate a 'capsized' kayak and kayak communication signals. At 1 pm, the closing ceremony was held and the program ends.
2) Self Reflection:
As the Multimedia Committee for the TOC program, I learned a lot about how to make attractive posters using Canva before the program started. I have collaborated with another Multimedia Committee member to successfully complete the TOC poster.
While designing the poster for TOC, I realized that a beautiful and attractive poster would make more UTM students interested in participating in this program. I was also assigned to design a simple and compact program promotion sentence that could attract students that have the outdoor spirit to join this program.
In addition, I am also the facilitator of group 1 along with 2 other facilitators. We work together to give guidance to the participants if they need help, especially 'survival skills' such as cooking in the forest. As a facilitator, I also guide and remind my group about the tentative program so that they are not confused and always prepare for the next activity.
Overall, this program gave me many opportunities to do new things such as designing a poster. This program also gave me the opportunity to hone my leadership and teamworking skills which are important assets for every student who wants to step into the career world.
