MY INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PRESENTATION

MY THOUGHTS ON MY INTERNSHIP

I started my internship in Transwater Engineering Consultancy Services (TECS) on the 20th of July 2020. I was quite nervous when I started my internship as I am a very timid person, but the engineers and officers in (TECS) really helped me out and guide me through out my internship period.

I am very grateful too as I had the chance to learn about the oil and gas industry. I entered this company without many knowledge regarding the Oil and Gas Industry, so, I think it is a lifetime experience for me as there are so many things that I learned. I also get to plan my future as a Process Engineer better. I was also exposed to documents in order to start a project in offshore and also onshore.

I will never forget this experience and will strive to be a Process Engineer one day!smile

A great leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.

MY INTERNSHIP JOURNEY

I did my internship in Transwater Engineering Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd (TECS) in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. I was nervous but at the same time excited as I got the chance to learn about the Oil and Gas Industry here. Little did I know, Transwater is actually a company that offers not only consultation, but also a vendor company. This is my first struggle when I came in this company. It is because, I can't differentiate between each Transwater company, such as Transwater Process and Plant Services (PPS), Glenmarie Operation II (GOII), and a few more branches of the company. I am even confused the difference between vendor, contractor and client. This is when I realised that my knowledge on the Oil and Gas Industry is too  little and I became more nervous.

Fortunately, my supervisor, Hj. Ir. Azionn and my three student mentors, Mr Farid Hazwan, Mrs Nurulain, Mr Shazari Shafie are a great support for me through out my internship journey. My supervisor helped me a lot on introducing me to the industry. He held a lot of trainings, gave me some reading materials and also explained to me the difference between a client company, contractor company and also a vendor company. He also asked me to list down the companies based on each categories. My supervisor also explained to me on the starting of the Oil and gas Process until the end of the process. This is my starting point where I became more interested in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The following week, i learned about the Hazardous Area and Protection in the Oil and Gas Industry. My student mentor, Mr Farid and Mrs Nurulain held a training for me to recognize the type of hazardous area and the type of protection used in the industry. It is really interesting in my opinion. During the training, I also learned about a new occupation, which is the Process Safety Engineer. Mrs Nurulain also told me that the jobscope of a Process Engineer and a Process Safety Engineer is different and asked me to find about it. I also had a chance to work with P&ID and PFD with my supervisor, and I had the chance to compare the P&ID with the real platform. It really is a great experience for me.

The following weeks, I learned  more about other engineering discipline which is mechanical engineering, instrument engineering, electrical engineering and also process engineering. I learned about mechanical engineering from my student mentor, Mr Shazari. He held a training to explain to me on the piping, pressure vessel and pump. He also taught me the calculation in order to choose a pump. Other than that, Mrs Nurulain and Mr Farid taught me more on electrical and instrumental discipline. I think I am most confuse during this training because, I am not familiar with the terms that is used in this discipline.

I had a chance to learn more on Process Engineering with Mr Wan Arif. Mr Wan Arif is a Lead Process Engineer in Transwater. I enjoyed learning topics related to Process Engineering because it involves a lot of calculations and I learned that Process Engineer is the heart in the Oil and Gas Industry. This is because, without a Process Engineer, the other engineering discipline could not start their job in order to build a platform or a process plant. I also had the opportunity to learn about valves and its accessories at Transwater Process and Plant Services (PPS).

Lastly, I think it is a very valuable experience for me. And I really hope to be able to work in the Oil and Gas Industry one day.
