Another jig project which is hydraulic jig. Hydraulic jig is used to press and hold the worms during the process of folding the ribbon around the worms body which has been used for research and development purpose.

The making of roller jig which the purpose is to hold and roll a cylindrical specimen during the process of thermal spraying which can provide an even coating on the surface.

Industrial visit at Tenaga Sulpom Sdn Bhd, Dengkil which is a biomass plant company that uses boiler to produce steam to generate power then will sterilize the palm, Inspection of the spray coating on the superheated tubes of the boiler for crack, peeling, erosion, corrosion. by measuring the coating thickness by using magnetic thickness measuring gauge to check the rate of wear.

The coating of water pump housing.  The thermal spraying used 405 wire as a bond coat and build up coat use Metcoloy 2.

The process of thermal spraying. The thermal gun was set. Thermal used two types of material for coating which are powder and wire. So, we used wire which is Metco 8280. Metco is the cleanest and most applicator friendly electric arc wire spray material available that consistently produces high performance and high quality coatings. It was computationally designed to create coatings that form a combination of extremely hard amorphous particles and crystalline glue particles. Sprayed the coating layer by layer, started with pre-heat, then layered with Metco 8280 as a bond coat, the Macalloy-2 as a top coat. Then, the thickness of coating is measured as requested by the clients.

Started at 8.30pm. A briefing about the punch card and working hours. Then, started to fill the personal information form and have a briefing from Mr David about the company, the introduction of Beta Surfacetech Sdn Bhd. After lunch, started a briefing with the CEO, Mr K.K. and the engineer, Mr. Asyraf about the process of thermal spray and the application. Went inside the factory of thermal spray to be given task of doing the thermal spray on the engine block. I was briefed on the process and the machine that was used.
