MINI REPORT

Through this workshop, several members from Sekretariat Anak Johor Darul Ta'zim (SEJATI) have been selected to be committee members for this workshop, including me who is the Head of the Publicity Unit. The task I had to do was create appropriate and creative promotional sentences to attract more participants as well as promote them across social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, and Telegram. The graduate attributes that are focused on this workshop is thinking skills in producing creative promotional sentences in addition to leadership and teamworking skills with other committee members, especially to the director of this program.

      The workshop was held for 2 hours 15 minutes from 2.15 p.m to 4 p.m. Participation for this program is free and given merit to UTM students who participate in this program. This workshop is held to further improve editing by using only Powerpoint and at the same time can attract students who are interested in graphic arts. This workshop exposed the participants to learn and improve graphic arts and editing by only using Powerpoint that can produce creative and interesting posters and logos and can also be used to produce presentation slides for students' assignments.

 

SELF-REFLECTION

      The organization of this workshop has a positive impact on the development of students' graduate attributes. Among them are communication skills because I communicate a lot with other committee members when holding meetings. In addition, thinking skills were also involved as I had to think of creative promotional sentences to attract many participants to participate in this workshop. The advantage that I have is that I quickly adapt to new situations, that is, I am easy to work with and follow the instructions given by the program director as well as the creative mind that I can use. However, there is a challenge that I face that the position held in this workshop is a position that I have never tried. Therefore, I give of myself and accept my duties and responsibilities sincerely.

  • Responsible for reading the welcome speech by introducing the participants as well as the panel of judges, competition rules, and closing remarks.

MINI REPORT

A total of 27 committee members were appointed from Sekretariat Anak Johor Darul Ta'zim (SEJATI) and 8 people were elected to be the Speaker, including myself. The task received required me to be the Speaker throughout the debate program conducted according to the session received. In addition, I also need to be a timekeeper to ensure that the participants are on time so that the program runs tentatively. Initially, I joined this program because Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) gave trust and responsibility to Sekretariat Anak Johor Darul Ta'zim (SEJATI) as the host. Since the distance between my house and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) only took 1 hour and a half, I agreed to accept the position along with the other committee members.

      The Graduate Attributes that are focused on this program is communication skills. Throughout the program, I as the Speaker had to communicate to the participants as well as to the other committee members. To keep the program running smoothly, I had to ask about things that were difficult to understand during the meeting. This indirectly increased my confidence in communicating with outsiders.

      On the other hand, adaptability was also one of the graduate attributes that can be found in this program. This is said so because this is the first time I participated in the program with committee members from Sekretariat Anak Johor Darul Ta'zim (SEJATI) which made me a bit unfamiliar or know each other. But on this program, I was able to get to know each other and adapt to new environments and people.

      This debate program involves several public universities in Malaysia, among them are UKM, UPSI, UNIKL, USM, UTHM, UIA Pagoh, MARSAH, KPMSI, UMK, UUM, UTM, UPNM, UITM Negeri Sembilan, UMP, and KUPTM. Each of the congregation custodians was assigned a respective conference according to the university that had been assigned to each round. In the final round, participants from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) managed to grab the first place which is the overall champion of this program. Congratulations to all the winners and participants.

 

SELF-REFLECTION

The program has provided new knowledge and insights on how university level debate tournaments are conducted according to the right process. I am a bit shy and introvert when meeting new people but after joining this program, I became more comfortable and easy to communicate with other committee members as well as make many new friends. In the success of this program, the nature of cooperation with each other can be strengthened in me as well as I can adapt to the atmosphere and new people.

      However, there are many challenges that I and other committee members face in making this program a success. At first, we all stayed in a homestay paid for by Yayasan Pelajaran Johor (YPJ) with complete facilities including WIFI. But due to the low speed of the WIFI, it has disrupted some of the ongoing debates. With the help of the jury, they were able to assist us as court custodians in case we dropped out of the debate session. To prevent the same incident from happening again, we all agreed to go and get into UTM to use the internet there which is faster and easier for us to do the work. For me, this program is a very challenging program but alhamdulillah, other committee members and I were able to go through the challenge together. The variety of new knowledge, skills, and knowledge I gained and can be used for me in the future.

MINI REPORT

I am an active member of Kelab Keusahawanan Kolej 9 & 10. Therefore, I have been appointed to be a member of the activity unit committee with another person as the Head of Unit. The graduate attributes that are focused on this program is leadership and teamworking skills. The position I hold requires me to constantly communicate with the Head of the Activitiy Unit as well as the program director to ensure that no errors occur. The tasks assigned are quite numerous but with the cooperation of the Head of Unit, all the work can be completed immediately because the tasks have been divided among each other.

      The program lasts for 2 hours from 9 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. The invited panel was a successful young entrepreneur at a very young age of 22 years. The program begins with a sharing session of tips and ways to start a business. At the end of 30 minutes, participants were allowed to ask any questions that would be answered by the invited panel.

 

SELF-REFLECTION

By participating in this program as a committee member, teamworking skills can be improved because I was appointed under the direction of the Head of the Activity Unit. I was able to perform the task perfectly on the complete instructions given by the Head of Unit. In addition, my communication skills can be improved because to make this program a success, I need to communicate with other committee members, especially during meetings, although many of them I do not know a few.

      There are also challenges encountered throughout the course of the program. Among the internet problems faced by the program moderator, it somewhat disturbed the smooth running of the program, but the invited panel understood the situation and continued the sharing session. Also, the final task I had to do was quite challenging and time consuming as I had to send 300 e-certificates to the participants. But with the help of the Head of Unit and other committee members, I was able to complete the task easily and quickly.
