PSDA Reflection 2020/2021-2 (Project 2)
Assalamu'alaikum, my name is Muharrir A18CS0315 and I will convey my reflection on doing PSDA Project 2 on this post.
Throughout the whole semester, I have already learned quite a lot of things related to statistical analysis such as determining and understanding data's character/behavior, performing hypothesis testing of 1 and 2 samples, Regression, correlation, ANOVA and etc., from taking the SECI/SCSI2134 subject under the care of Dr. Nor Azizah. I believe that all of my understandings are the result of her effective way on teaching me the materials during the semester, which I consider outstanding.
As we were approaching the end of the semester, we were given the instructions to complete the Project 2 by our lecturer after we finished Project 1 which has been completed a while before. In Project 2, we were instructed to perform more advanced statistical analyses such as hypothesis testing hypothesis testing of 1 and 2 samples, Regression, correlation, chi-square test and ANOVA from a pre-determined dataset to test out our depth of understanding regarding those statistical analyses which have been taught in the semester.
We chose the 'Time Use' dataset from https://perso.telecom-paristech.fr/eagan/class/igr204/datasets link given by our lecturer and we chose to conduct the mentioned statistical analyses to 3 variables from theh dataset since the whole dataset is too wide for us to make a conclusion from our analyses and also because our determined title is “Analysis on people’s time usage for studies, hobbies, and games”.
During the project we faced a few difficulties on setting up our Rstudio because I am using a MacOS while my group mates are using Windows. But through thick and thin I managed to find a way to solve the problem and we proceeded to complete the project and would eventually came to a conclusion which I quoted from the paper "we can conclude that the time mean of studying and time mean of doing hobbies and playing games is not equal, in fact the time mean of studying is less than the time mean of doing hobbies and games since we fail to reject the null hypothesis at 0.05 confidence level. Then we also found that, linear correlation does exist between the means of studying time and doing hobbies. We also found that there exists a linear relationship between the means of studying time and doing hobbies and games, and also the said variables are dependent on each other". Thus, we completed our Project 2 and proceeded to make a presentation video.
After completing the Project 2, I have been enlightened with a much deeper understanding of the statistical analyses that we conducted and I am now able with confidence to apply my knowledge of statistical analyses whenever it is needed in my future career or in my daily life.
