This event gives students a chance to practise entrepreneurship skills and advance their knowledge of business and technology, opening up exciting possibilities for careers in these fields in the future. The event also emphasises developing students' creative abilities.

I am interested in the activity primarily because it is focused on the world of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is essential for us to develop our knowledge and skills, especially in today's technologically advanced world. As a result, I apply to become the event's secretary. I am really intrigues by entrepreneurship and believe that as a computer science student, entrepreneurship play a big part of my future career.

As the secretary for Start Up! '23, my responsibilities revolve around managing paperwork,  writing letters, reports, and ensuring that all meetings are attended by the respective individuals in charge. The event aligns with several key UTM Graduate Attributes, including strong Communication Skills, which are essential for effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and participants. Leadership and Teamworking Skills are crucial as I collaborate with the team, coordinate activities, and support program leadership. Adaptability is vital due to the dynamic nature of startups, requiring the ability to handle changing priorities and unexpected situations. Possessing Enterprising Skills is essential as a secretary in an entrepreneurship program, demonstrating resourcefulness, proactivity, and an innovative mindset.

Start Up! '23 spanned two days, from January 13th to January 14th, 2023, and took place at N28A Faculty of Computing. The event was organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer and featured various activities such as technical talks, motivational talks, a carboot sale, and the main event, startup pitching. These activities provided a diverse and enriching experience for participants, fostering their entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging innovation.

Self Reflection

I and my involvement as the secretary of Start Up! '23 have provided me with a valuable opportunity to reflect on the impact of the activities on the development of students' Graduate Attributes. Throughout the event, I have witnessed firsthand how students have grown and honed their skills in various areas. The startup pitching sessions, technical talks, and motivational talks have significantly contributed to the development of their Communication Skills. It has been inspiring to see students confidently presenting their ideas, actively engaging in discussions, and effectively conveying their thoughts to different stakeholders.

As the secretary, I have recognized my own strengths and advantages that have supported the success of the activities. My strong Communication Skills have played a crucial role in facilitating effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and participants. Clear and concise written and verbal communication has helped streamline administrative processes, ensuring that everyone is well-informed. Additionally, my attention to detail and organizational skills have been advantageous in managing paperwork, writing accurate reports, and ensuring the smooth flow of information within the team.

Challenges have arisen during my role as the secretary, but I have approached them with resilience and determination. One significant challenge has been handling a large volume of paperwork and administrative tasks within limited timeframes. To overcome this, I have learned to prioritize tasks, establish realistic deadlines, and employ organizational tools that enhance efficiency. Moreover, unexpected situations and last-minute changes have required me to be adaptable and flexible. By maintaining effective communication with the team and proactively seeking solutions, I have successfully addressed these challenges and ensured the smooth progression of the event.
