PROJECT 2 PSDA

PROJECT 2 PROFILE

REFLECTION

Throughout project 2, I was required to do inferential statistics which is to use a random sample of data taken from the population and make inferences about the population. Firstly, I had to find for a suitable dataset from internet resources which includes any organization, website, and so on. However, It took me a long time to find a suitable dataset that allow me to do the statistical test in project 2 as it was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Fortunately, I had finally found the most suitable dataset for project 2 from Malaysia health Statistics which is a website that has a lot of public datasets for people to learn, practice, and improves their data analytical skills.

The dataset that I found out is cases of infected HIV and AIDS from the year 2001 to 2018, which is mainly about the rising cases of AIDS and HIV between females and males in Malaysia from 2001 to 2018. It was collected by medical researchers, and doctors with the help of the Ministery of women Malaysia that launched this project. Since the dataset has many variables which include the gender, years, and the percentage of women cases. That makes me go through a tough decision in order to pick the most suitable variables for the inferential statistical tests in this project.

Next, when it came to the statistical test after  I choose the suitable variables, I had chosen five out of six types of statistical tests which are hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, goodness-of-fit test, and chi-square test of independence. My understanding of data analysis using inferential statistics increased, and I got the chance to put the concepts I had learned in the project into practice. Because I have to draw conclusions about the population of patients using the findings from the statistical tests, it has also helped me improve my programming skills using RStudio and my data analysis skills. Furthermore, by performing all statistical tests in RStudio using the proper methodology, I also learned how to draw conclusions from the data.

Overall, I want to express my gratitude to my lecturer, Dr. Azurah, who has helped us throughout the semester even though the online teaching and learning component was difficult for all of us. Additionally, I felt a sense of accomplishment for finishing the project successfully despite the fact that many issues cropped up when it was being worked on. As a result, working on this project greatly influenced my decision to be more careful with each step of the data analysis and interpretation process. This experience has undoubtedly contributed significantly to my growth as an analytical thinker with improved critical reasoning abilities.
